Just a few weeks after being introduced, Tesla has dropped the standard-range Model S from its lineup.
The standard-range battery first hit the configurator on March 1 at a price of $79,000. The car was advertised with a range up to 270 miles, a 140 mile per hour top speed, and a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.2 seconds.
Now, Tesla only offers the long-range version of the Model S, which starts at $89,500 and provides 335 miles of range. The Performance Model S starts at $99,000.
A Tesla representative told Business Insider that the company made the move to simplify its product lineup.
Tesla made a similar move for simplification this week by discontinuing the Mid-Range Model 3.
The company also rolled out a price changes this week. The base Model 3 remained at $35,000, however the “Standard Plus” version increased by $500 to start at $37,500. Other Model 3 versions received a $1,500 increase. The Model S and Model X received average price increases of less than 2 percent.
