Tesla Partnership with Buc-ee's (26 New Locations)

Buc-ee’s is expanding into Colorado, in Johnstown. This is a small “blink and you’ll miss it” spot off the freeway to the South of Ft Collins.

It is not clear if a Supercharger will show up there since there is one nearby in Loveland, but this is Buc-ee’s and a new site is always a good thing…

I and many other Tesla owners have been contacting Buc-ees for many years to have any sort of EV charging stations but have always had crickets. But I think the reason why they waited for so long was simply because of stubbornness and not taking EVs seriously. The past couple of years with major announcement from OEMs on EVs and just seeing more and more Teslas showing up at their stores have really forced them to no longer ignore where the market is heading.
Ditto, I worked at the Robertsdale, AL location briefly during the "oh my the sky is falling Pandemic" spring of 2020 while our school was shuttered and picked some extra change and asked the management about Tesla SC and also e-mailed corporate and again..............crickets. Glad they finally woke up.

Updated summary of the locations, adding status on Supercharge.info
Note that Fort Valley, GA is currently listed as Warner Robins, GA on Supercharge.info.

I’ve seen photos of a couple of Buc-ee’s locations that unfortunately put the chargers right in front of or right at the side (end) of the pumps, and these locations would naturally be used by cars or trucks with trailers parking long ways and taking up several charger spots at once. Leeds, AL I think and New Braunfels TX.

Looks like Temple is now back on the Find Us page.

They also added Luling and 5/6 around Dallas area.

Interesting, there is a “Sevierville” location that has been under construction at exit 407 I-40 TN. Several articles about it mention EV charging stations, but it’s not on the 2021 partnership list. It may be that with two supercharger stations near Knoxville on I-40 and yet another south of Sevierville in Pigeon Forge they are not needed here.

This second TN location at 74,000 square feet will beat out the New Braunfels location for largest convenience store, but it in turn will be superseded by the planned MS location on I-10 (exit 24) at 80,000 square feet. This MS location is also not on the partnership list. This is another location where a large supercharger is located on I-10 not far in D’Iberville.

World Domination? This Texas Monthly article from 2019 was very informative, great background. Buc-ee’s: The Path to World Domination
A major point to be made however is that TA Travel Center is a traditional truck stop, which provides services primarily to big rig trucks (diesel), secondarily to RVs and passenger cars (mostly gasoline). Buc-ee’s has always catered to the gasoline crowd (and now Tesla) and has “No 18 Wheelers” signs at all entrances. I don’t think they like RV’s and travel trailers in their lot.

Different markets, or at least skewed customer base.

I suspect that Tesla’s release of the semi might change the truck stops a little when that happens.
