As said earlier in this thread, any ratings for cars needs to be taken with a grain of salt. However Buick has ranked very high or at the top of JD Powers long term reliability ratings for many years and that has been my experience with my Buick.
Overall we expect more quality from cars today. Most of the cars down in the bottom third of the quality ratings would have been rated as top quality cars 40 years ago. The Japanese were ahead then and they still are quite good, but the entire industry has improved.
