It's the belly of the beast. Means gov't support from Germany and a big flashing signal the transition is real and permanent.

Where's Iceland on that list? Nowhere, apparently. I guess English here is so good that they're considering it a native language?

I did my US medical residency with a guy from Iceland (Petur) and a guy from England (Gareth). Total of 24 trainees - we all joked that we could understand Petur’s English perfectly, but Gareth was a challenge at times. My Icelandic acquaintances in the US all have relatively minimal accents.
