Texas Supercharger Locations (location speculation, discussion)

Drove by the CSB at Corsicana yesterday. There were several Tesla crates under tarps in the parking lot.

I did the same thing, too! Looks like it's a 120kW Supercharger with 5 stalls. I'm going to assume the 5th one down will be ADA accessible?

I also swung by Huntsville on Thursday, and not much has changed since the previous pics.

Also, the Corsicana location has all the power ready to go. There are three VERY large conduits protruding from the ground, ready for cement to be poured for the SC foundation. Corsicana also has the transformers (rectifiers) onsite. Huntsville doesn't have the power run yet. The charging stations can go up in a day or so. I'd put Corsicana up and running in about two weeks or less, depending on how motivated the contractor is.

Supercharged for the first timer today. I'd seen screenshots and heard of charging rates, but it really wasn't until I plugged in and saw the charge rate zooming high that I really understood. It's astonishing. Now to litter them all over the place. Would love to see one around Fredericksburg or Johnson City, plus Corpus Christie - one like to visit the beach after all.

You would think with all of the money PEC Electric has, they would offer a chargning station at their HQ in Johnson City--heck even a 14-50 would be welcome.

And yes, the same for F-burg.

Went to Corsicana today, accomplished three things.

#1.
Did a semi-scientific study for actual mileage on the "open road" both to and from using cruise control.
By running @ 56 mph on the way down, I was nearly 100% (98.88%) on target with the projected and stored mileage, temp was 72 degrees, had the fan on, but was not running A/C.
By running @ 64 mph on the way back, I was 93% efficient between the projected and the stored mileage, A/C might have been on.
I was in a bit of a hurry on the way back, and had ample miles to "play" with, so I was.

Yes, I could have driven faster, but I needed to gain complete confidence in the car's ability to estimate miles and my ability to persevere with cars and trucks buzzing by at higher speeds.
Score: complete PASS

#2.
Picked up a Pumpkin Fudge pie from Collin Street Bakery for tonight's party.
Score: complete SUCCESS

#3.
Had the good fortune to meet the crew and forewoman/project manager working @ the site on a Sunday afternoon.
Not your typical installation, rain had finally stopped, and ground was workable enough to dig (by machine and hand).
LOTS of concrete had to be cut and removed, lots of hand digging to lay underground conduit. Very narrow green space behind the rear of the existing curb to the adjacent sidewalk that the Contractor's needed to maintain. And they had to bore and install the conduit from the existing transformer location to the new location for the ESVE racks and equipment under the existing concrete parking area, bored about 250 linear feet.
Electric Company is to visit site tomorrow, and review/approve before they can start back-filling holes and trench, then set formwork and pour concreted for their new transformer. Transformer is long distance from rest of equipment.
Parking spaces are situated at premium corner of property for highest visibility.

Showed my MS to the forewoman, she had never seen one, nor had the crew.
Big "Thumbs Up" from all of them.

This is the first Supercharger installation for this crew.
Once they have completed this installation, they are moving up the road a bit to Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Score: In spite of the wet weather, the crew is making major headway. If I have time next weekend, will stop by again. Anticipate conduits to be nearly done, concrete work to be well underway, unless the weather turns wet/sour on them again.

I think I talked to the same people on the way out of town on Friday! One guy with the Corsicana crew said they are scheduled to install on at 114 and 121 in Grapevine early next year. He heard about Tyler and Temple, but didn't know Temple was canned for Waco. He also said Corsicana should be online the first week in November, as long as they don't get a bunch of rain again.

Also, from purplewalt's pictures, it looks like there are 6 stalls instead of the 5 I saw on the packing slip. I wonder if there is one that automatically comes with the main unit.

I always thought the purpose of the SCs were to provide charging in between major metro areas. 114 & 121 is smack in the middle of the north DFW area (it's near the airport), yet it's not really on any of the routes that most people would take when passing through. I would think one in Denton and Hillsboro (Waco), where I35E & I35W converge on the north and south ends, then Weatherford (I20) to the west and Mesquite (I20/I30, near Town East Mall) to the east would be better. You could top off when either leaving or entering the Metroplex.

I agree that the crew was likely misinformed on 121/114. That location does nothing for people going north/south or east/west.

Right now the map looks like it covers the east west route with something just west of Fort Worth. Really hope to see a station spring up north of Denton to close the gap between Waco and the planned OKC charger.

Agreed on Denton, but as you know, there is really nothing north of Denton in the way of coffee shops or restaurants that a Model S owner would want to spend time at until you hit the WinStar casino north of the Red River. That's quite a stretch from Waco.
