Thanks to Model ≡, Price increase is coming!

I think Tesla would not signal this unless it was a real price increase.

This time it's same car, more money or perhaps marginally better car, more money (eg 75/100kWh). It only makes sense if the order book is healthy and the cost of all the manual fixes to misproduced Model-Xs have hurt margins.

That's my prediction. By announcing it ahead of time they can get some people to buy before end of quarter to goose the numbers a bit for the analysts.

it didn't mention that the price is going to raise.

Thanks everyone who assures "price changes" does not mean an "increase."

This updated article is more numerical.

It says the increase is $1,500 for a barebone Model S.

Lucky you. In the UK the price increased equivalent to around 5000 USD! Pissed!!!!

Blame the strength of the US dollar. It's also resulted in very low petrol prices in the US over the last 2 years. For a US company competing in the international market, it makes it tougher. China has manipulated its currency to stay artificially low compared to other currencies to help Chinese businesses undercut foreign rivals.

It's a good thing for an American buying an American made product, but overall it hurts US exports.

Well! For those who complained that $71,500 was too much of a base price then they missed that bargain price.

There's no more 70 kWh model, so a 75 kWh model costs $74,500 to start.

But wait!

Today, 06/09/2016, Tesla just announced lower price starting at $66,000 for 60 kWh model:

Note that Tesla only said there will be price changes, not increases. That does seem likely to be a euphemism for an increase, but it could also mean they're just shuffling some options around.
How very prescient of you. Good call. :)

Turns out that today Tesla decreased the base Model S price, reducing the price differential between the S and the 3.
