Does anyone have any insight on the tongue weight limit on the hitch?
I ordered the accessory hitch, not the towing package. The Tesla owners manual says the limit is 120lbs, but the hitch itself, the 2 inch Bosal, says 500 lbs with <22inch wheels, and 350 lbs with 22 inch wheels.
This 350 lbs or 500 lbs figures seem a lot more consistent with other vehicles, and as a % of towing capacity. For example, our family's other vehicle, a MB GL350, has a 600 lbs weight limit for a 7500 lbs max trailer load. 120 lbs is not a lot - that's a rack and two mountain bikes, in a vehicle with 7 seats.
Also, what does the size of the wheels have to do with it?
Thanks
