After seeing a lot of posts around here, I was pretty terrified when my car was delivered today. There's almost certainly a bias on forums like this where people only post if they're upset, so I'd like to offset that with my experience.

The car was in great condition overall. There are various spots on the paint from it being buffed, but they all came off with the touch of a finger and I expect they'll all be gone after I take it to the wash. The only issue I could find was the alignment seems funky on the FWD windows, and I can't quite tell if it's normal or not (flush at the top, in front of the stationary glass at the bottom). Waiting for an answer, but I couldn't get good pictures of it so I suspect I will have to follow up.

There was a (major) hiccup with getting the temporary tags for the car, but my delivery specialist had it resolved for me within 2 hours (Tesla was closed when the car was delivered, otherwise I suspect it would have been sooner), and I was able to drive all day. The keys did not come in a box as the manual describes that they should, and it looks like it was supposed to come with a tool to replace the battery, which wasn't there. The phone dock is also supposed to be included with the premium package and wasn't there. Both of these are really minor pieces that I'm sure will be mailed to me relatively quickly.

Autopilot works like a dream. I have had none of the issues I've heard people describe with AP2. It was smooth and stable for me (other than major intersections with no lane markers which is clearly outside where it's designed to operate). The sensors are detecting and showing several cars ahead of me.

I think my general experience could be summed up like this: They clearly have a lot of hiccups. I was generally not given information that I should have been without having to press somebody, which is unfortunate for a car that costs 6 figures. That said, every time I've had a problem, it's been resolved relatively quickly, and their staff seems to be doing a good job at taking care of *sugar* when it happens.

Anyway if you are out there awaiting delivery and terrified by some of the stories out there, keep in mind there are plenty of people for whom it goes smoothly as well!

Check your glove box. The Phone Dock kit may be in there along with the bolsters. You should have a total of 7 pieces (4 bolsters (2 for a standard size iPhone and 2 for an iPhone Plus), 1 dock connector, 1 USB to Lightning cable, 1 USB to micro-USB cable).

    Instructions for installation are here:

When I picked mine up, they hadn't installed the bolsters and it was already installed with the lightning connector (I didn't know about the bolsters at all). I found the parts in my glove box, looked them up online, and then installed them. I also found I was short the micro-USB cable. Contacted my Delivery Specialist and she FedEx'd me the cable.

Did you have PUP? I am wondering if they provide the phone dock kit even for non-PUP customers?

Reality-check, issues that should not occur on a 6-figure car:
    • there are various spots on the paint from it being buffed
    • funky alignment on the FWD windows
    • keys did not come in a box as the manual describes that they should
    • was supposed to come with a tool to replace the battery, which wasn't there
    • phone dock is supposed to be included with the premium package and wasn't there
If you don't live next to a service center or within the range of a range, these issues mount up to become a dealbreaker and that's why I belive Tesla should count it as a delivery only when all issues have been resolved and owner agrees delviery is finally flawless. We'd see more realistic numbers.

Yes, I have PUP. I don't believe the kit comes on non-PUP vehicles.

I picked mine up Friday and it had the box with all the phone pieces in the glove box. I had the tesla delivery guy install the lightning adapter for me while I was inspecting the outside. Mine didn't come with a lanyard for the keys or the sun shield. They said they would get some in for me later on.

Recently picked up my MX with Premium Package, and the car did not come with the Phone Dock as well. May i know where it states this online?

    Thanks!

I took delivery of the MX 100D Saturday, and when I asked, the delivery advisor told me that they are phasing out the phone dock since, most people can't use it with the phone is in its protective case.
So no more phone dock will come with the premium package.
