Well that's good to know … makes sense of course, but it never occurred to me. Not having a spare tire could be more of an inconvenience than I initially thought.

Purchase a tire plug kit, some pliers, and a portable 12V compressor for $40-50 and throw it in the trunk. Takes a few minutes to plug a hole if the puncture is sealable. At least you don’t need a tow for every flat.

Yeah but … then you're in the hole for a new sensor as well, therefore the cost is a lot more than just the compressor.

I’m going to clarify...a plug kit is for plugging holes/punctures. TPMS sensors won’t be damaged unless you use puncture sealant in a can which is different than a rubber plug kit. I’ve plugged many tires for my Dad who was a contractor who ran over screws and nails at least twice a year on jobsites.

Tesla sells a puncture repair kit on their website as well.
