Yep, seeing more net short covering today, over 300k shares so far, unfortunately we won't know more accurate net covering/shorting numbers till Monday
Ihor Dusaniwsky on Twitter

A bit over 600k shares covered since yesterday open and before the drop today. Stil over 30M to go.

They try to sneak for the exit, but sooner than later they will get to this

So today’s stock action clearly showed a couple things. Tesla is in a huge uptrend, shorts are starting to cover, and a serious manipulation failed to work unlike the past months. That is very, very good news for us longs.

With strength like today, The moment this market turns to the upside, all hell will break lose for $tsla. Exciting time ahead!

So Elon was lying because some random guy had told him 1 year earlier that producing a car in 2017 was possible and Elon refused to listen. But clearly it was possible as Tesla did produce a few hundred cars, just not 5k/week. So why should Elon have listened to that guy anymore than he should have listen to all the professors and experts telling him making a profit in Q3 was impossible?

Tesla/Elon aren't going to get in trouble if the guidance was simply optimistic. Rather, they'd get in trouble if they were outright lying. If Elon was going around telling insiders it was impossible while publicly saying they were going to do it, then they could be in trouble. If Elon's production folks were telling him it was impossible but he didn't believe them and kept saying it, then it's murkier. It's a judgement call on whether Elon believed was he was saying.

Not murkier at all. That's why he slept there as he was one of the only ones who believed it was possible, then admitted he was wrong due to automation hurdles. Same goes with SpaceX, people don't just don't believe what's possible.

Are you enjoying the new laws on weed up there today?

Disagree--this is classic FUD--long on innuendo and short on facts. Beyond scary but meaningless terms like "intensified", the second quote is classic.
Kind of like saying production will "ramp up" "soon"?

It's not always possible or appropriate to speak in full, specific detail. That goes for reporters as well as CEOs. When you don't have perfect knowledge, you report what you honestly can, to your readers or to your stockholders.
