Yeeeowch. Yeah, I think they'd better stop expanding Gigafactory 1's workforce. This was not well thought out.

IMO, additional production should be at Gigafactory 2 in Buffalo, NY, where there's plenty of space, plenty of water, and plenty of housing.
Not to mention, plenty of power -- both hydro and, soonish, own solar. Plus a need to populate the work force in order to comply with terms.

I see your point, but that hugely increases the cost of transportation of goods.
Does it? Why?

The majority of the cars and trucks and stationary batteries are destined for the East Coast in any case. It would make sense to put the Model Y factory and the Semi factory on the East Coast in terms of minimizing transportation.

Obviously economies of scale mean that Gigafactory 1 should keep doing what it's doing, but ideas of putting a semi factory there or making Model Y there seem deeply unwise and make no sense. A Semi or Model Y factory should be EAST.

I asked a local, DISQUS User 'carsonight', about the possibility of creating a 'Teslatown'. This idea was first raised by Elon with NV Gov J. Sandoval during a conference about a month ago. Carsonight says there isn't enough water in the Reno area to support a town of 10,000 people. Further, all water rights in the area are long since over-allocated and its a major limiting factor for residential growth. Gov Sandoval did not comment on the idea.
If Elon really wants to do this then I can foresee the headline "Boring Company to build tunnel from GF1 to Teslatown". I'm not familiar with how long the tunnel would have to be but there has to be enough water somewhere.

It's a market-wide tech sell-off. If you think these kind's of stories can move price you need to forget investing.
Nasdaq down 1%. Tesla was nearly 5% down. Yes, Apple was also considerably down - but that has a reason.

All I'm saying is this was not just some bots selling to follow the index.

ps : Agree the "news" about workers safety is nothing new, and was retweeted just 20 times.

Who the hell would set a stop loss at 340... According to IB 700,000 shares were sold short this morning.

Idiots?

Anyway, now I look wider it's a general macro issue, methinks, combined with the SEC/DoJ B.S., maybe emboldening some new short positions.

EDIT: Apple under 200, Amazon below 1600 - it's not TSLA, in fact TSLA seems to have stabilized right now...

For obvious reasons my bias is political. Upthread is speculation the election tomorrow is responsible for today's dip. I agree and the outcome is uncertain but of immense importance. NYT has a recent very cautionary, and wise, opinion piece for Democrat hopes. I don't intend to sell and expect as a long that Tesla will be seen as a hedge against unrelated macro uncertainty as do many here. But there is a lot to be uncertain about because this election is way more important as a signal of our future on many levels. In my unhumble opinion the outcome will not reduce anxiety. The tea leaves are mixed.

Does GF 2 site near Buffalo have enough undeveloped acres for MY and Semi assembly?
Buffalo and NY state would steam roller any red tape to building GF2 out, as vehicle production would actually deliver the jobs they invested to create in the area.

Irrelevant. Elon is going back to first principles.

Boring tunnels from Sparks to Lake Tahoe and other Sierra drainages will provide ample water, and entertainment.

The drop might be related to this BS (again):
Kris Sanchez on Twitter

Meanwhile, I'm literally looking at a VoIP phone right now that says that 911 service may not be available, and I don't work for or at Tesla in any capacity. (The customer that I support has their own internal emergency number that they prefer calls go to, because they have on-site EMT/fire, and they can also have security meet the city fire department and escort them to the exact location of the incident, rather than the fire department having to guess.)

I like how they repeat the "Elon doesn't like yellow" thing that's been repeatedly debunked.
