Turned off auto fold mirrors, mirrors fold in anyway. Is that normal?

We got a bunch of snow over the weekend. I don't have a garage, so I have to park outside. My mirrors got iced up and made a nasty noise when they unfolded so I turned off the auto fold to prevent any (further?) damage. I came outside this morning and noticed my mirrors were folded in, but did not unfold when the car unlocked. They unfolded normally when I pressed the button to manually unfold them. When I went outside at lunch time today I noticed my mirrors were folded in again. Is that normal behavior? Is there a way to totally prevent the mirrors from folding if that's the case?

If you turn it off, it will not fold only if you turned it off while the car was off. Otherwise it will initiate in next cycle. When you going to start again, it will not auto unfold itself. Once you unfold them manually, they will not autofold again.
