Type 2 to 3 pin (reverse of normal)

I'm going to be getting a tethered charger at home for my M3. I have no other outdoor sockets at the moment.

Does anyone know if you can get an adapter which plugs on to the end of the type 2 cable and gives a standard 3-pin socket?

The charger will want a data handshake before it enables the power so a dumb cable adapter would not work.

It's not that hard to make a "not quite so dumb" adapter - couple of resistors, a diode and a switch.

However, the connectors are very expensive so it doesn't usually make sense (compared to just providing another ordinary socket).

Ok, thanks for that.

On a related topic, does anyone know whether, if I got an external 13a socket and mounted it on the wall near where my charger would be installed and I asked nicely, the installer would be likely to hook it up for me while installing the charger? I know this may vary between installers, and wouldn't mind paying a little extra. Has anyone done this?
