Ordered a RWD/Blue/White on 13th March. Said August initially which was fine, came in to June and had been there ever since.

Just had a text asking me to pick up from Trafford Centre on Thursday afternoon! It's literally changed in the last hour as I checked it earlier this evening.

Won't be able to accept unfortunately as I need more than 3 days notice to return my current lease and sort my finances out!

How much does that drain the battery as my charger is set to only do it 00:30 to 04:30 so if I start pre-conditioning at 06:30 to leave at 7 that will be draining the battery.
You may be better asking the Tesla to start the charge at 00:30, and set the charge level to something you can realistically get to within 4 hours. (I believe it'll carry on charging after 4:30 if it can't "make it" to the requested power level). It can then use mains electric to do the preheating. (Obviously, outside of your cheap window, but maximizes range)

So just for personal intreague, is there an absolute sweet spot for range vs speed? If I'm heading up to Manchester (from Kent), and I need to auto cruise at 62 I'd do it !

not really because it depends if you want speed or range..

Fastest trip time can be to boot it at speed limit and top up at low states of charge and ride the high parts of the charge curve - see TeslaBjorn 1000km tests.

If you don’t want to charge/stop, then probably running at 56 behind the lorries in lane 1 will do you well. Otherwise just drive normally and don’t worry too much.

Thanks.

So pre-conditioning is really just setting the cabin to warm up and that also does the battery?

You won’t get something for nothing. If you are only preheating on battery you might as well just do it for 5 to 10 mins before you leave just the heat the cabin. The battery will warm during use.

If you want absolute maximum range then override your charger to let it supply power outside of your cheap rate period to preheat.

So I’ve noticed that my exact spec has been put on the new inventory today… spoke to Tesla and was told they want the extra £3k to match me to this vehicle. I asked where the logic is in not matching this vehicle to the “next the line” for this spec… the guy didn’t know what to say 😂
Yeah I had a couple of cracks at this. My conversation with Jack in webchat this week started with "you will need to cancel your existing order and buy the other car from the inventory". I asked him to transfer my order from the existing May/June to the available inventory car because there was a price delta and I had finance arranged. Jack was trying to help and said would check with his manager (I didn't go Karen on him and ask to speak to the Manager, he just needed the right approvals). In the end they agreed to "match" me to the alternative car (even though spec was slightly different due to colour) but I had to agree to collect it before Friday. If you can guarantee to pick up the car this week that might help sway one the managers looking to hit their Q1 delivery quota? Good luck with it, fingers crossed for you.

Following the stress of the matching process yesterday I got hold of my Reg today for insurance purposes (YK22 club for anyone interested). Admiral/Direct Line seem sensible/ish (a couple of specialist brokers actually said I'm wasting my time trying to get equivilent through them). Went with Admiral becuase of multicar and they were very relaxed about Acceleration Boost (no price change).
My only real stress is collection location, I had to agree to collect from South Coast (existing order was NEC collection), now the order is updated with Thursday 31st collection from NEC. I'm always wary of situations like this, has it just updated the car and location has remained the same (incorrectly?), I don't want to drive to Birmingham to find that my lovely new car is waiting for me in Southampton. I'll be doing some triple checking before Thursday...

Did they honour the initial price you paid? I tried to say it would make sense to match this car to someone who can collect before Q1 ends.. (hint hint)

Also pulled the “I know others have managed to do this”

Nothing worked… back to the EDD of 21/5-18/6

Best not look at the inventory anymore 🙄

Yes they honoured the Feb price. Its the inconsitency that is frustrating, I can't fault the guys I was dealing with but it seems that is not always the case. I'd have another go if I were you, same circumstance different outcome is entirely possible.

I'm in the same boat. Trying to battle the unknown is somewhat taxing on the nerves. I'm settled and have charged the state of mind that it's not all just waiting in the void now. Depending on when GSh reopens after this covid thing, shipments for May should be leaving some time next week. By Monday we should have some likely candidates for vessels :) Once on their way it will feel like progress.. at the least we have something to track !

Hang in there, almost time ;-)

Even in the old ICE, we always ALWAYS stop at Warwick services... 2.5 hour drive from here and it's about the time I need a coffee (and stretch legs). Warwick.. conveniently a decent bank of superchargers there... I eyeball them every time I drive past 😁

Sounds like worrying isn't needed. Cheers!

Yeah your right… anyone else finding the waiting gets ALOT more frustrating the closer you move to EDD.

I felt ok with waiting until may when I ordered back in January!

You are right. The stress and anxiety is heavy in the waiting period....and forums like this are great but can also fuel the stress and anxiety adding "oxygen to the fire" where the contagious effect happens where we inherit each others stresses. The good news is that once you get the delivery appointment all stresses disappear and the car wont disappoint.

If you’re on the M40 a lot there is a lot of choice (plus beacinsfield services has some gridserve

Lucky you, 55 hours and counting my company chose ALD ☹️. Staying positive it will be connected tomorrow though
I would give them a call if it's still not active, I don't know if ALD need to do something or not but it's worth a shot. I assume you got the email from Tesla on the day for the digital signature, and you signed it and got the confirmation email back with the documents attached?
