Do you know the build date of your car? I'd definitely agree with you since I don't like a lie as much as the next person, but unless you have a May or later build month it's a toss.

Regarding the paint chip, that would be uncharacteristic of recent Vancouver deliveries. Hopefully they are willing to resolve this for you as they have for others. They're maybe upset and short with you because you're upset about a feature you're not getting that you can't make use of. That said, honestly it sort of is normal. Normally, dealerships aren't so swamped and will correct it before the car is delivered to the customer. But it definitely does happen, even if the customer doesn't know it was corrected.

May 2019.

They are buffing it out but it’s clearly not a damage that’s buffable.

“take it or leave it” and they won’t cover fees to put back my plates on my stored car. The term “reverse everything” is used very loosely.

Hmm. I suppose you could wait out for HW3 if it's important to you then. You'd likely have to cancel everything and put an order in 1-2 months from now to ensure you get a car from the next delivery wave, then do the wait all over again. Hopefully you're in a position to do so if it's important to you.

Also, oof. Is that metal in the second pic? I had leftover white gunk on my car that looked just like that but it was just wax or something.

OOF is right. Man. Totally feel for you. Doesn't seem fair to put a gun to your head and make you decide on the spot. I don't understand why they just can't document the issue and agree to fix it down the road. I mean I truly feel for the overworked staff and I fully support Tesla's mission but I am not looking forward to getting my dream car because I am paranoid I will have an issue like you on delivery. I am super tempted just to put in a new order as a back up and then just cancel it if there are major issues on delivery!

I actually don’t mind HW2.5 as I expect to get FSD when it’s actually released and proven. But the paint chip is too noticeable and they can’t buff it out.

It’s deep and requires to be repainted.

I’ve decided not to take delivery.

BCAA said existing damage will be my responsibility. If I am rear ended, they have the right to pay less due to existing damage depreciation.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Sad that "new" cars are being delivered like this.

When I picked mine up a yesterday, it had few scratches. One was a bit deeper but it buffed out.

I had an issue with one of the rear windows. It had a much bigger gap on one side compared to the other. So one side was millimeters away from the small glass window, while the other side had a much bigger gap.

I asked it the window can be adjusted and they took some pictures and said they will forward it somewhere. I feel like those pictures didn't go anywhere lol.

So I'm trying to follow up to see if the SC can adjust it.

I noticed another issue today. The fabric trim above the rear door was coming off. Not sure if I can pop it back in place. I didn't really try too hard.

Other than that all the panels seemed to align.

Mine comes with HW2.5 instead of HW3.0.
The "manager" told me to take it or go home.

If you didn't order FSD it will most likely come with HW 2.5 so that's normal.

Sry, man. I wouldn’t take that car either. Mine should have the HW3 as it’s firmware indicated, even without ordering the FSD. With 2.5 and those defects, I’ll totally reject the car. Some were criticized by not willing to take the car with minor defects, you’ll not. Just unlucky!

I'm curious, did you sign everything then go check out the car? Wondering how that worked when you rejected delivery. Paranoid about this happening when I'm coming over from the island to pick up.

Yep I trust them when they told me “everything can be reversed”. It can, except whatever BCAA might charge to cancel insurance. Technically another lie.

And because my brother referred me, we now have to argue to get 7500km SC bonus for both of us when the next M3 arrive.

I am going to email the Delivery Specialist and see if they will replace/repaint the rear bumper. If so, I will still buy the same M3.

Unlucky indeed, bythe way the VIN ends with 903 for those that might have a friend picking one up.

We took our's yesterday and we found 3 issues (attachments).
One of them was the fabric trim above the rear door which was coming off (similar to your's).
Paint issues were resolved instantly.

So for the paint issues, did you just tell them to fix it on the spot and they just buffed it out? For the fabric trim, did they promise to fix it at a later date?

Paint issue was fixed in a minute, without any fuss. As for the fabric trim, I have booked an appointment using the Tesla app for July 2 (morning) - The mobile team should be at my home to fix it.

In the meantime, I will let my OA/DA know about these issues.

Oh yeah I got a bit of that weatherstrip creasing too.

Your fabric trim piece doesn't look too bad. Mine is like falling off. I did a closer inspection and it looks like one of the plastic clips behind it has broken off.

Another thing I noticed was that my rear doors don't pop out enough to unlatch when the door button is pressed from the inside. I have to press the button again and push the door out simultaneously in order to open the door.

Door thing happens to ours too! Hopefully the Tesla mobile should be able fix all these issues.

I can live with them for now, as the car is super wicked!!!

I’m on my way to pick up today. Immediately after pick up I’ll be taking it to RDI Detailing in Richmond to have PPF and ceramic done.

I’m guessing that if I have any paint issues it might be smarter to have RDI Detailing take care of them. I figure they are detailing paint every day as part of their primary business. They might be likely to do a better job than someone who is trying to push out 100+ cars a day and doing only the paint work that really needs to be done.

What do others think?
