Unplugged Performance has partnered with Randy Pobst as a strategic advisor and test driver for our Tesla performance upgrades. Randy's experience in developing Track Mode for Tesla provides us with a great baseline and solid guidance for our performance products which are developed to surpass the car's factory equipped performance capabilities. We are honored to have Randy's support.

During the most recent TeslaCorsa Randy drove four Model 3’s back to back to provide feedback on the real world performance benefits of the Unplugged Performance upgrades across the different spec cars. Randy is a world leading expert (and MotorTrend journalist) that understands the delicate balance between track and street performance.

Breakdown of the 4 cars tested that day:

Sof's Car - No modifications

Erik's Car - UP Super Sport Dual Rate springs + UP Sway Bars, UP Front Lip Spoiler, Factory Michelin Tires

Mike's Car- UP Coilovers + UP Sport Brake Pads, Michelin Tires

Kevin's Car- UP Race Coilovers + UP 6 Piston Carbon Ceramic Brakes + UP Sway Bars + UP Front Lip Spoiler + UP Billet Aluminum Front and Rear Adjustable Suspension Arms + UP Trunk Spoiler + 20" UP-03C wheels with Michelin Cup 2 tires

We hope you enjoy the video of Randy’s feedback and would love to hear your comments.

A few interesting notes that come to mind:

1 Randy mentioned that a 2 second lap reduction was possible by adding the Unplugged Performance dual linear rate springs and sway bars (after driving Erik’s car and Sof’s car back to back)

2. Randy said "Kevin's car was capable of a 1:54 - 1:55 lap if traction control wasn't stabbing the brakes while on throttle". This would put it in Porsche 991 GT3 RS territory (and faster than a McLaren 570S). Nonetheless he still ran a 1:58.5 on Cup 2 street tires which is faster than a Porsche 997 GT2 on the same Cup 2 street tires.

3.Randy ran a 2:01 in a stock Model 3 Performance which is comparable to a Porsche 997 Turbo

Also as bonus footage you’ll see in the video a long form Q&A that Randy hosted with us at TeslaCorsa discussing his experience developing Track Mode with Tesla and his impressions/tips racing a Tesla Model 3.
