VW will trample tesla

Maybe people just want a reliable, reasonably efficient, reasonably-fast-charging long-range BEV without all the uncertainty and randomness of Tesla's "customer service", so much so that they're even willing to buy a BEV from greedy murderers.
Does that explain why Tesla has the best-selling car in the world?

More to the topic of this thread, here is a chart for Europe for q1 2023. VW had the third best-selling model in Europe.

Of course there are many ways to look at statistics, and of course Tesla has relatively few models compared to a high diversity of models from most other global car companies, including VW and Toyota. If you roll up total sales by brand, it looks like Tesla comes in somewhere in the 15th to 20th position. But if the discussion is on the point of what is the best selling car model, Tesla Model Y has achieved this leading position.

I think a particularly interesting point is that Tesla Model Y has done this despite the fact that it's far from the world's cheapest car, and it's a clear expectation that the largest sales volume will be at the bottom end of the price scale. In this respect, model Y is outperforming significantly - it's not even Tesla's cheapest model and it's probably the most expensive model in the top ranks of any of these charts (this despite Tesla's aggressive price moves).

Many of the most impressive MY price reductions have come after Q1 2023, and so it will be interesting to see how these rankings evolve in Q2 and Q3 reports.
