What are these holes in the center console?

I tried searching for this but no luck. When looking at the center console of my March 2017 S90D there is a round group of holes that I am puzzling over what it is. I assumed a speaker but when I took it apart I found that it is has a small fan attached to the back (it was spinning before I unplugged it). Any ideas what it is?

There are threads here somewhere... it's the 'cabin temperature sensor' that tells the HVAC system the ambient interior temperature (by sucking in air).
