What is normal PEM temp?

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Out driving rather cruising today. Speed 50-90km/h. Outside temp 23C. PEM new/cleaned since <1000km.

Temp M 50-70C
Temp PEM 36-42C
Battery 23-31C

All within ”blue” but PEM closest to yellow.

Read a lot regarding eveything on this forum but want some input from you experienced owners/drivers.

After five years of ownership, that is completely normal. It's important to note that at lower speeds, stop/go traffic and hard acceleration/throttle, the PEM temperatures will increase. At highway speeds, it will decrease due to airflow & decreased accelerator input.

Here in Texas summers, my PEMs have always hung around 43C to 48C in normal daily driving. With your ambient temperature, 36C to 42C sounds completely average for our fall/springtime weather.

It's also important to note that your PEM will not reach the yellow bar until it passes above 57C. This has never happened to me during normal driving, but has happened when charging outdoors in high heat.

Just as reference: today I did a drive of 3 hours keeping speed limits as prescribed 50, 80 or 100 km/hrs.
Strong acceleration used and quick cornering
Outside temperature 31 degrees Celsius.
Motor 70 degrees Celsius
Battery 38 degrees Celsius
PEM 44 degrees Celsius
Motor and PEM still 1 bar blue left. Battery on last blue bar.

Energy consumption 121 Wh/km. So if I had an original pack with 53kWh my max range would have been 438 km.
