HI
I picked up my MY yesterday. First thing I noticed is that although I ordered the white interior...it had a wood dash. I didn't mention it until the end. The specialist called the manager and they both were shocked. I was shocked it made it all the way to me with no one noticing.

I actually like it and will probably keep it but has anyone else had this happen? How did it happen? Just curious.

I've seen this happen a couple of times on a Model 3 in the past 3 years, at least by the people who posted about it, but a mishap like this is pretty rare. Tesla will replace it for you if you want. Takes only a minute to pop off the end caps and then pop off the trim piece.

The good thing is you won't get the glare/reflection on the side windows & windshield like you would with the white dash trim. The only "bad" thing about keeping the wood dash is if you want to wrap it with some vinyl to cover it up, depending on the vinyl thickness & texture, you might see the wood grains through the vinyl wrap. If you cover it with a dash cap, then there's nothing to worry about.

I honestly like it, too. Unique, and in my opinion, breaks up the interior look a bit.

How does this happen??! Literally no noticed from start to finish? Crazy.

Oh it gets better. This was a 4,000 mile USED Tesla from Tesla. The first owner most likely didn’t notice, and when Tesla bought it back and put it up for sale *again* it was not seen during their recertification inspections. It went through TWO Tesla checks and passed!

So yes, whenever you buy a used or NEW Tesla, thoroughly check it.

Too funny. I’m actually creating this combination. Wood insert on order! Arrives next week.

I too, would love to have what they gave you. What did I get instead? This:

This is what I have posted about, and some have gotten "ruffled" from me saying that Tesla has appalling quality control! We buy at least 1 car a year, sometimes too, and we have never had anything like this from any other brand ranging from Honda to Rolls!

That opens the possibility that there was a swap along the way. Perhaps someone thought that it would be cool to have white inserts with a black interior and paid for an exchange.

I was thinking that too. However, It would make sense if it was all the doors. Or maybe just the two front doors or the two rear doors. But just the driver side door and none of the others?

But if it were true, there’s a model Y out there with one white drivers side door and three black doors!
