Why does model x long range delivery date take the longest compare to all other tesla production models? Is tesla doing on purpose to sell more model y and plaid variant of model x? Or not enough machine to build the car? Wondering if anyone have insight?

Because it’s the lowest volume (and probably lowest margin) seller and is a PITA to build.

Elon said he had a mistake in closing down the standard production version, even though he still had lots of demand for it.

Stopping production then taking longer than expected to release the refreshed version caused a huge deliver gap, that they are still struggling to fill.

X is a magnificent vehicle, but complicated. Took a long time to get the ball rolling again. Design and factory significantly impacted by Covid related/personel issues.

The LR sells many more than the plaid variant. Also, the LR comes in 3 variants (5, 6, and 7 seat). 6 and 7 seats variants have additional cooling and different seats. Also, comes from only one factory whose capacity and workforce are being shared with Model 3, Y, and S product lines. On top of that it is a very complex design with some crazy unique components (less than 30% shared with other Teslas) like the FWDs, autoclose/open doors, seats, huge windshield, etc.
