Just to update everyone, i just got back from SC and there was an issue with the latch. They ended up switching it out for a new one and now the light works 100% of the time. Or at least the 6 times i tried it. Hopefully nobody else has this issue but if they do, its at least good to know it...

I choose to not get EAP/AP or FSD when i purchased my car back in November 2018 but, I just noticed it was listed on my account details page today. Maybe you should check again?
