    Why is the odometer hidden?

Thanks for that! In that threa, they posted this picture which was helpful because usually the car's not here for me to run out and try to find stuff.

    Why is the odometer hidden?

Thanks! That's great. Next level question: While re-learning the swiping, I accidentally swiped the cards down and away and I can't figure out how to get them back. Tried swiping in all directions- nothing. I got out and shut the car down and started up again, twice, but I can't find them. Do...

    Why is the odometer hidden?

Thanks for that. Very helpful. Apparently I did that years ago and forgot, and also forgot that you can swipe sideways to see the other cards. And then while re-learning that, I accidentally swiped the cards down and away and I can't figure out how to get them back. I got out and shut the car...

    Why is the odometer hidden?

Yeah, agreed, you make some good points. Thanks for that. But "it's always been that way" is a good enough reason for me! Mostly because I like to do stupid little math games with the mileage, especially on long drives- calculating what mileage I'll be at when I get to Syracuse, what I'll be at...

    Why is the odometer hidden?

Is it possible to get my Model 3 to display the odometer on the homescreen while driving? If I want to see it while driving, it's unsafe to have to go fish for it in the software screen and then have that screen obscure the map. Is there an easier way to see the odometer than going to the...

Unexpected 100% volume since last update?

FWIW, I have had my iPhone ringer and alert volume set to about 60% and I have been blasted at 100% volume by my 2019 M3 a few times, only once when playing from my phone, and a few times when playing the radio.

Model S 23 Sound System Stops Randomly Working Entirely

Have you gotten past this problem yet? My 2019 M3 started doing some of this in early September. Driving along, not doing anything, volume ramps up to maximum volume in about 2 seconds. This is a safety issue- scares the crap outta me as I scramble to shut it down in a panic. Steering wheel...

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

FWIW, I heard from my local phone repair guy that SOC accuracy gets worse at the bottom of the range, AND as the battery ages, making for a compounding effect… That said, the one time that extreme cold sucked the last 15 miles of range out of our reading within 4 hours while it was sitting, I...

Anyone else suddenly lose 15+ miles of range?

Wait, what? Accessing your phone ap draws on your car battery, even when it is miles away? I guess that makes sense, but can you say more?

Switch to hourly pricing for charging at home

This is a recommendation for anybody who charges at home to see if they can get a better rate from their electric utility. Where I live, just north of Chicago, we have the option to switch our billing method with Commonwealth Edison to hourly pricing, rather than paying a flat $.13/kWh at all...

    Tire rotation

My experience: My wife's Model 3 (SR, single motor) went 42,000 miles before I remembered, oh yeah, even EVs need some maintenance, including rotating tires. 3 of them were fine and good to go, and the back right tire was halfway to bald. Very stark difference. YMMV, but I wonder if my...

    Tire rotation

Since my wife's Model 3 (SR, single motor) has needed absolutely nothing in 3 years except wiper fluid, I completely forgot to do anything else. (Manual just recommends checking the brake fluid every 2 years.) When I finally looked at the tires at 42,000 miles, 3 of them were fine and good to...

Control arm under warranty? [when over 50k miles on car]

I can't find anywhere in my paperwork a mileage limit for my warranties, just that General and Roadside Coverage both last 4 years from the purchase date, and Battery and Drive Unit Coverage last 8 years from the purchase date. Is there ever a mileage limit?

    Model 3 Tires

Our 2019 M3 SR+ just started making a noise this week from the front left wheel. It sounds like a squeaky balloon, or creaky like an old door, with every bump and every tiny turn of the steering wheel. Does that sound like your control arm noise? It's pretty loud both inside and outside the car...

Uh-oh. Forgot to rotate the tires for 38K miles!

FWIW, I found out I was wrong about my everlasting tires. I checked tread depth on the left side and, in the dark, the tires looked great. I went to rotate them and saw the back right tire in daylight and it was very different. Getting close to bald in the middle, with wear marks showing...

Uh-oh. Forgot to rotate the tires for 38K miles!

Well, if you leave your car unlocked on the street here sometimes people come around and help clear the change out of your ashtrays, and some Priuses lost their catalytic converters last year, but I haven't heard of anybody changing tires on cars at night. Smooth roads around here, I guess. I...

Uh-oh. Forgot to rotate the tires for 38K miles!

Wow, that's gotta be a record. Sounds like you're peeling out. It never occurred to me that you could put it in Slip Mode when on dry pavement- would it let you peel out? Yes, I stomp it multiple times whenever I drive it (when alone in the car or with my daughter who loves it) but as I say, I...

Uh-oh. Forgot to rotate the tires for 38K miles!

My wife has a 2019 M3 SR with the standard 18" wheels. Zero problems with this car except 1.) I don't get to drive it enough and 2.) I have to fill the wiper fluid every 9 or 10 months, dammit. So I forgot about rotating the tires for, um about 2 years now, and didn't realize how quickly she's...

Free model 3 passenger side mirror guts- no housing, no mirror surface

Sorry I didn't see this earlier- gotta check my settings. Hate to say it, but at least when I had to deal with this last February, it was all or nothing. You couldn't get just the housing or the mirror, only the entire assembly, $620 at the dealer. But of course, you had to indicate which color...

Are the wireless phone chargers history?

Free model 3 passenger side mirror guts- no housing, no mirror surface

Somebody who is not me but is not not my wife knocked the passenger side mirror off of our Model 3 last winter. She was backing in and bent the mirror backward. This broke the housing and the mirror glass itself. The rest of the mechanism is fine- it still works to fold and unfold. There is one...

Sold my Model 3 after 3 years. Cost of ownership.

Just hit 30K miles in our 2019 M3. I guess we've saved $300-$500 on the 7-10 oil changes we didn't get. Biggest outside expense so far has been wiper fluid- have had to fill it up 3 times now.

Hertz Places $4.2 Billion Order with Tesla

I dunno, I see a lot of women and older people in M3s, including my wife, who keeps it in chill mode. Good thing I don't drive it much or it would be dead by now. I think the powerful regen is the only reason I haven't gotten a ticket yet. Met a friend of a friend the other day who has a Dual...

Hertz Places $4.2 Billion Order with Tesla

Same as any rental. I knew a guy who worked for one of the rental companies, and said customers could never be as hard on the cars as the employees are. They had a car wash that was half a level below the parking lot, with a ramp going up to parking lot level when they came out of the car wash...

Iphone 12 won't unlock my Model 3 but does auto lock on walk away.

I have a 2019 M3 with v10.2 (2021.32.21) and a new iPhone 12 with 14.4.1. This is my wife's commuter car, and (tragically) I only drive it 5% of the time. My wife is on her first multi-state road trip in our 2019 M3SR. Thanks, Hank Lloyd Right, for all that good info. So much for my theory of getting free Lasik for my nearsightedness by occupying window seats on Southwest flights. Round trip options

Sorry, can you explain terms, please? I am assuming dual carriageway = 2 lanes each direction, therefore 75% single lanes = lower driving speeds = greater economy. Is that right? And "carriageway"? Are you competing for space with carriages? I guess we have that in Amish country here. (I was...
