Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

=====FINAL UPDATE ===== I am very happy to say that as of today the above nightmare scenario of having to wait another 8 weeks did not come to pass, and I have received all of my money back, including all refunds of deposits, loan repayment, etc etc. I thank all of you for your support...
  2. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Well, isn't this amazing. 14 days ago I got an email saying everything was set and I was gonna get my refund in 5-10 business days. And then radio silence. After many unanswered emails, I again escalated the situation to the only person I know (who doesn't even work at Tesla) who has been able...
  3. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Thanks for your support of my pointless whining saga, my friend. :) I’m sure this sort of thing happens with every car company but I’m also sure that this exact level of incompetency only routinely happens with Tesla. Wow! Are you sure? That’s seriously amazing news. I was so worried the bank...
  4. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

A while ago (like 10 days) they requested a payoff quote for my loan which made me hopeful that this nightmare was going to end. They even said it would be paid off before my next payment on the loan was due, but of course it wasn't, so today an automatic payment went out for the loan - I don't...

Delivery shennanigans & terrible customer service

What is wrong with you? As an ex-Tesla owner, Tesla has treated me so wrongly so many times that it is really, really hard for me to consider a Tesla for a new car. I am not alone. This happens. Not everybody who says they're tired of being mistreated by Tesla is part of a massive TSLAQ conspiracy.
  6. DontDoIt

Bad, confusing, misleading delivery experience. Do NOT buy a used P90DL from Tesla.

Do your math. A regular car with 35mpg would cost me about 7 cents of gas per mile to drive. A performance car with 20mpg that needs to be filled with premium gas (costs $3 where I live) costs about 15 cents a mile. Tesla Supercharging costs $0.28 per kWh. On average, the P90DL I gave back...
  7. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Well, actually in the last few days more bad things happened, again about Tesla being incompetent and inconsistent, and resulting in me yet again being hugely disappointed. I am just so exhausted at this point that I don't even wanna discuss it all here, because it's depressing. I just wanna get...
  8. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

I did get a response today. It made me hopeful that there'll be progress soon, but of course, I'll see it when I believe it. Still, it was good to get a response.
  9. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Update: No update. Nobody is responding to me. It's been a month since I gave them the car back and I still don't even have a timeline on any part of the refund. Meanwhile I still don't have a car and I have no means of getting one.
  10. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Update: The situation with the unauthorized charges has been resolved. Update 2: I still have no word on the $63,000 refund for the car I've dropped off 3 weeks ago. I keep hearing it's being 'expedited' but I don't think I can honestly say any part of not receiving any portion of your 3-part...
  11. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

That is ridiculous! You and I are in the Tesla took our $7,500 for no reason club. I’m sorry! Nope. Anything outside of 200 miles to your delivery location. I’m serious.
  12. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Update: Amazingly, the situation with the unauthorized payments has been resolved. As of today I've received refunds for 3 $2,500 payments. Still waiting on an ETA for the refund of the car I returned, but hey, I am glad to be able to back to 2 weeks ago when buying that new car thing never even...
  13. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

It is very hard to read your post. But to summarize, I am amazed that your argument against "a company needs to have good customer service" is that I shouldn't need a customer experience with transparency. Not sure how to counter to that. Your numbers continue to be wrong and confusing at the...
  14. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

but don't their batteries explode 'n stuff? plus it can probably only go as fast as a golf cart :P
  15. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Update: We're making slow progress. Some literal angel saw this thread and put me in contact with a good customer service team within Tesla. (This literal angel didn't want their name published.) This contact is, as far as I can see, capable of getting stuff done. After a couple of back and...
  16. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

It's not even about that any more. Can you read? I am telling you Tesla took $5,000 from me without my authorization, consent, or KNOWLEDGE. The rest is just a high amount of incompetence, but if you look at your CC statement one day and see $5,000 of charges you had no idea about, would you...
  17. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

I think we're still not on the same page as to what we're talking about. You're still talking about stuff about 'servicing' the car, or whether your service center offers you soft drinks. I am talking about everything else, things such as your experience while buying the car, transparency and...
  18. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Who talked about TSLAQ and stocks and all? I guess you're one of those ones who are convinced there's a giant Tesla conspiracy and anybody who's having a problem with them must be a short seller throwing FUD around. You clearly haven't read the last few items on my post. This is not just about...
  19. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Tesla owes me: 1. $2,500 credit card refund for my original purchase in May (the car that I've returned) 2. $2,500 credit card refund for my deposit on a new car on May 26 (the one they they've told me I can't get) 3. $2,500 credit card refund for the unauthorized charge they've made on May 27...
  20. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

I think buying sight unseen in general is not a good idea, and you just have to trust the person/entity a lot to be able to do it. Tesla is the opposite of trustworthy, at least just because of how unreliable and inconsistent they are. True, true. Although the level of incompetence, at least...

    2016 Refresh S P90DL V3 AP 22k Miles

Thank you for the response. I think your car would be a terrific buy if it's priced well, since it'll be skirting the common battery issues with the 90D's thanks to having the great V3 pack. Unfortunately I can't do it. I think Tesla would price your car at the low 70's most probably, so you...

    P85DL+ Loaded Pristine

I know a lot of you compare these to what Tesla sells, so here's my comparison: I recently bought a P90DL from Tesla for $60,600. Mind you, it's a P90D not a P85D, and also has ludicrous. My car could never do 450kW or sub-3 second 0-60 runs. Also, this car has the exact same range as mine...
  25. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

The options are unbelievable incompetency or unbelievable sleaziness. While I agree with you that it's much more likely to be the former, I'm not sure how good of a thing that is.
  26. DontDoIt

    2016 P90DL, Titanium, $58,500 obo

As someone who got a similar car (pretty much the same but 42k miles) from Tesla for $60,600, I'm going to say... even considering the 4 year Tesla warranty, yours would be the car I'd get, simply because it has a good battery. Have you tested the 0-60 and quarter mile times yourself? And do...
  27. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

You're right. I've already disputed the transactions. Even after the P90DL fiasco I was still wanting to buy a Tesla (after having driven one for 2.5 years), but this is just too much.
  28. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Haha thanks my friend... I am guessing he won't. If I had Twitter, I'd do the same.
  29. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

As annoyed as I am at not getting my money back yet for the car I returned, I am infinitely more annoyed and frustrated at tesla literally taking my money without my authorization, for no reason, and then denying anything happened.
  30. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Update (or lack thereof): - The two $2,500 payments (completely unauthorized) have posted, which means Tesla has got the funds. At this point I think it's safe to say Tesla 'stole' this money from me? It's ridiculous, I know, but what else can you say? - The original $2,500 payment (authorized...
  31. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

I've already emailed him that screenshot in my initial email this morning... his response to the screenshot showing the charges was that there were no charges. I'm wracking my brain trying to think about what else Tesla might have charged me for... which is a hilarious thought since I don't...
  32. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

One more thing. I thought maybe there was an issue with the CC processing and it just went through 3 times. But nope - the charges happened on separate days. The salesperson just responded to me and again denied there were any additional charges. The very charges I'm seeing on my credit card...
  33. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

"Service" means more than oil and filter changes, what he/she is talking about is the level of service to your customers, as a company. "Customer service", in fact. It's true that the majority of Tesla owners probably have had good customer service from Tesla, but 'majority' isn't good enough...
  34. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

I've already done this, and found 'reporting' a $40bn carmaker's small transactions with an individual very hilarious... You know, when I was trying to get my car returned I was trying to hard to get this escalated or talk to someone higher up. I was never able to do that. Now I am exhausted...
  35. DontDoIt

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

You guys might know me from my previous thread ==> Bad, confusing, misleading delivery experience. Do NOT buy a used P90DL from Tesla. Basically, I got a P90DL from them, the car was far inferior to advertised, I was lied to regarding my ability to return the car prior to buying it, bla bla...
  36. DontDoIt

Bad, confusing, misleading delivery experience. Do NOT buy a used P90DL from Tesla.

Awesome update: Tesla isn't even responding to me any more regarding my refund. They've had the car back for more than a week and I have nothing. They haven't even disconnected my app from the car. I can still see where it is: It's exactly where I returned it and they haven't even moved it. I...
  37. DontDoIt

Bad, confusing, misleading delivery experience. Do NOT buy a used P90DL from Tesla.

Update: I've dropped the car off 1 week ago today. My refund is supposed to come in 3 parts: 1) Refund my credit card for the $2,500 order payment 2) Repay my bank for their financing of the vehicle 3) Cut me a check for the rest (this is the one that they said could take up to 60 days) Not...
  38. DontDoIt

Bad, confusing, misleading delivery experience. Do NOT buy a used P90DL from Tesla.

Yeah, it’s very unfortunate... but there are no good deals (used or inventory) anyway that I’d like to buy, and no Tesla advisor I’ve reached out to find a good deal has responded back to me. I’d consider a Model 3 except I need free supercharging. I’m now seriously thinking of getting...

    Not Available P85DL Loaded

There is currently a P85D with 61k miles for sale on Tesla's own website for $47,500. It has the advantage of having 2 years and 40,000 miles of full warranty. Based on that (and the fact that yours has Ludi), your car is probably worth 45,000.

    P85 Dl: 399 Kw In Ludicrous+ At 55% Normal?

Lol. The P90DL Tesla sold me as Ludicrous put out 410kW @75 on max battery & launch.

  43. DontDoIt

Bad, confusing, misleading delivery experience. Do NOT buy a used P90DL from Tesla.

Yeah, I still can't believe it, I thought I'd have fight all the way based on their responses, but I just got an email asking me when I could drop the car off. The time they quoted for the refund is 60 days, which is very long considering I won't be able to get a different car meanwhile, but I...

Bad, confusing, misleading delivery experience. Do NOT buy a used P90DL from Tesla.

Sure "I can't justify it" because everything went super smoothly with my purchase, they at no stage misled me in any way, delivered me a pristine car, everything was in order; and I'm just a random hobo screaming "Tesla sucks, Tesla sucks" at passersby. THAT WAS SARCASM in case you didn't get...

Buying A Used Tesla Not Recommended

I was told that too, but when I wanted to return the car on the 3rd day they were all like no no no, that's for new cars only, you can't return old cars. Thankfully it looks like my situation is going to get resolved, but it's definitely not regular Tesla policy that used cars are returnable
  46. DontDoIt

Calling On Any And All Cpo (or New) 2014 Ms60 Owners.

Tesla will definitely not tell you about the degradation during the purchase process by themselves. You have to ask... and you should definitely ask.

Has The 'ultra Hifi' System Been Improved At All At Any Point?

I know this is a matter of taste, but I thoroughly hate the upgraded (well, now standard) audio system. I've driven Teslas with it and without, and I 100% prefer the without. I know this has been talked about a lot before, so that's not my point. Has Tesla's premium audio system been changed at...
