I kinda think that the added weight of larger batteries gets to a point of diminishing returns, especially with more and more charging infrastructure. When there was no where to charge quickly, it made a difference, Battery swap of smaller batteries is even more efficient. How often do you...
The original design for the pano roof had some problems that were fixed back in 2013, but after I got my car in October 2012, which is VIN #197 in the Signature series. There are lots of little things that have been improved since I got my car. Even my nose cone is different. But I love...
Time for a long term update. I hit 75,000 miles on Feb 16, 2016, three years and almost 5 months after taking delivery. I am still in love with this car. Having an original Sig, I have the old pano roof that is needing some work. We go through tires quickly on the 21 inch wheels. My battery...
My source at Mattel tells me the Model S for Hotwheels is on its way. Look for perhaps two versions in the collection to be released in 2015. Also, there is also a Model S Matchbox coming as well, presumably to appear more as a stock version. Phil Stillman, your petition may have paid off.
Since all X's are D's by design, with all that extra horsepower and efficiency, will a standard Model X out run a standard Model S? Will a Performance X beat the Performance S?

The point is that I do want to see the traffic, and with that much on the screen it's hard to separate out the freeways from surface streets to plan the best route, especially with a quick glance. The picture I posted covers perhaps 1000 square miles, and at those distances, one isn't taking...
I have been quite disappointed with the new traffic display in the maps, especially the city streets are displayed compared to the freeways. The picture below looks like a plate a spaghetti, especially while driving. The city streets should not appear when the map is this zoomed out. And...
Stopped at the bank today. My wife had just had the MS washed so it looked especially nice. A crowd gathered around for what has become known as 'Tesla Time' (talk about the car). The best question of the day: "can I see what's under the hood?" Of course, I showed him. :)
He must have a big dorm room if you can't get it all in your Model S. We got her all dropped off and loved taking the model S for our third trip from LA to the bay area! Unfortunately, we won't be there this weekend, but would have loved to meet up. I was planning on parents' weekend in...
A few thoughts on improving the user interface.
Have more than six radio station presets. There could be another or several other sets of six available with a swipe across the current bank.
Also, the radio presets should be linked to the driver profile so my daughter can have her own...
Tiff Needell of BBC's Top Gear and Fifth Gear fame, was in Las Vegas doing a TV show for my producer wife Paige (who by the way was a major volunteer in producing TESLIVE). Tiff is a gracious and lovely person, and definitely loves to joke around. He had a great time teasing Paige about me...
Tiff liked it. I will post pics on another thread. Glad to hear about the service centers. They say they aren't open to the public but I doubt they would turn you away. I was able to find a 14-50 outlet at our hotel that wasn't on any of the charge sites, so I'm posting that on those too.
Sitting at a red light in LA, a parking enforcement office taps on my window and asks, "Is that a Tesla?" I respond that yes it is. He notes his approval but then cautions me, "Your brake lights are out though. You better get that fixed". (I don't use creep). I didn't try to explain as the...
After watching my wife volunteer a few hundred hours of our days and evenings the last few months on TESLIVE, I can tell you it is a lot of work. And it will be great. And although Tesla is keeping clearly separate from TESLIVE, Elon is set to actually be there. The billionaire is coming out...
@Glenn. You have a P85 and are trying to stay under 300 Wh/mi? I am averaging 354 Wh/mi.

@rjhoskins. The biggest expense to date has been two new rear tires at 12,000 miles, but I have the 21 inch wheels. The other issues were a charging cable that didn't work. It was...
It's my understanding that the session on "Designing the Model S" is being presented by people from Autodesk whose software was used to design Model S. As above, there is limited involvement from Telsa, other than what should be an amazing Q&A with Elon and Jerome.
What I want to know from Elon isn't technical at all. Tesla may seem like one big party now, but for 10 long years it lost money. There must have been many dark and lonely days when the company was struggling for money and on the verge of bankruptcy. So Elon, what kept you going through the...
Just last weekend I hit 15,000 miles, so I thought it was time to post my long term driving impressions.
Bottom line? I love, love, love, this car!!! Even more than the day I got it. Driving it is still exciting.
It's been eight months since I took delivery of my Signature Red 85, S 197...
Everything is at the Crowne Plaza hotel, except for the party Saturday night at the Tesla factory. It would be in your Tesla maps, but it's at 45500 Fremont Blvd, about 7 miles from the hotel. See you there! It's going to be great!
Pulled into the doctors lot today and parked right next to an Aston Martin. Surgeon came up to me gaga over the Tesla, totally ignoring the Aston, raving about how beautiful the Tesla is. Best car in the lot.
There are restrooms at the Tesla Design Center (see the red wall just beyond my car in the first photo), but I would expect it open only during business hours. There must be others on the campus though. Those Space X guys work round the clock.
I have been using a 14-30 adapter since October. I got it from Tesla but had to wait a few days. Definitely better than 110. It's 3 miles/hr of charge vs 16 miles/hr.
I now have 4000 miles on my Model S and am loving this car!! The car gets lots of looks, "thumbs up", and even a few people taking pictures as they drive by. Just yesterday and the day before I twice did a 175 mile loop around Southern California on a single charge. After picking my wife up...
That's how my wife and I decide who gets the Model S--whoever is driving the farthest. That's because it's the most fun, nicest to drive, least expensive to operate, and greenest (probably in that order). It really has turned range anxiety on it's head when that becomes the criteria for who...
As Arnold said, with the Navigation on, the path shown almost totally obscures the traffic data underneath. If I look very closely I can see it, but not easily, so I would have to cancel the nav to see it then turn it back on.
So I guess Tesla was way ahead of me on the traffic button directly on the Google maps app, because I got it with my last software download. Here are the on/off pictures of the traffic button as I was stopped on the 405 freeway in LA stuck behind an accident Saturday night in the rain. Glad to...
Thanks for all the comments. I was #S705. Don;t know why I got lucky to get mine early. Maybe it was wishing Elon happy birthday at the opening of the Santa Monica store. I will try to post my photos.

And another photo while we ate lunch.
Ok, so here is my story. There will be thousands of these soon, but for those of you still waiting, let me whet your appetite.
Bottom line, OMFG, what an amazing car!! What makes this car great is that it is the first electric car that is outstanding in its own right, without being a...
