    Accessories for 2021 Refresh Model S Plaid/LR

Quick update on these. TBH I thought, given the location, these were going to be a "consumable" item and I'd have to replace them every year or so as the got scuffed up or started to lift at the edges. They have actually held up great--they show no signs of abrasion and the edges have not...

Replacing cabin air filter and cleaning evaporator fins in 2021-2022 MS

I am not sure if this is still the case, but for a while, the access to the service manuals had been reduce to $0--you could try subscribing and maybe find the correct procedure. Personally, given the car is still under warranty, I'd see if Tesla can so something about it.

Harsh, crashy ride on 2016 MS 85D with 21"

For the 21s you need to be religious about tire (tyre) pressure, so that is a good place to start, but the 21s give you an inherently stiffer ride. Switching to 19s will give you a more compliant ride. The air suspension in the older cars only adjusts ride height, it does not adjust spring...

Picture of 2021 Model S refresh with Tempest wheels no wheel covers

You can order the parts from Tesla via the app. Open a service ticket for the car you want to put the wheels on (so they can verify VIN) under the 'something else" category and in the description, say yo want to order some parts and list the part numbers and quantities you want and ask for an...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

With my car, I have not seen much variance with SoC, at least for 0-60. Even on the 1/4 mi, my fastest run was at something like 80%. Conditioning definitely makes a difference, somewhere around here I posted pics of Draggy runs before and after. EDIT: Oh yeah, in this thread: #2 :)

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

A couple of things about drag strip mode: 1) It pre-torques the wheels -- here is a link to a pic that shows it: #365 2) It does not drop to CoG as much as move it. Dropping only the nose makes sure the front wheels stay loaded and maintain max traction when you launch

Model S Plaid - One Year Later

On the USB hub, apparently some cable was not plugged in properly between the port in the back of the glove box and the "USB hub" (tech's words). On the latter, it took a couple of tries but they eventually replaced the Steering Column Control Module which fixed the issue.

I also got an "F" yoke as a replacement for my yoke issue (no haptics)

Model S Plaid - One Year Later

I didn't have buzzing, I had there opposite issue--no noise, no haptic "click", but yes, replacing the yoke gave me the haptics click back without any buzzing.

Model S Plaid - One Year Later

Following up on the restraint issue. They replaced a rear seatbelt but that did not address is issue, so next is to replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) and the airbag. Perhaps related, the haptic feedback on my yoke went away, but mobile service replaced that already and it is...

Man, I am so glad you asked the the question because it caused me to go up the data and grab some screenshots and I realized I screwed up. I am not sure what I was thinking, but my pack degradation is actually only 2%. I pull the data using a CANserver (built by @JWardell) to grab the CANbus...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

It is kinda funny--last time I went to the drag strip, it was after a trip to Home Depot and a run to the grocery store. Only had 70% SoC because I forgot to plug in. Then, on the way back, picked my dog from the vet. Truly surreal.

Why does TACC remain active after FSD steering wheel disengagement ?(which is not safe IMHO)

Should have been more clear--when I intervene by grabbing the wheel, both AutoSteer and TACC disengage. I did not like have manual control of the wheel, but the car still controlling speed. When I first got the car, I had double-click set up, but encounter a couple of situations where that was...

You are right, the UI is the same, but new features like Tidal, track mode take a while to show up on the FSD release train.

Why does TACC remain active after FSD steering wheel disengagement ?(which is not safe IMHO)

I agree--one my car (refresh S), I have the one-click option set up up enables/disables TACC and AutoSteer at one time, so there is no confusion--either the car is in control or I am.

I have to admit, the whole safety score pursuit an the FSD beta testing has took some of fun out of owning the car. I would periodically turn off FSD ( particularly bad be a release, etc) and be pleasantly be reminded how much fun my car is to drive manually. :) Its a trade-off. It is fun...

Thx. So the interesting thing is the FSD beta build is several releases behind the production release when it comes to features. I just got access to the energy app via voice commands with the last FSD beta release. You are correct, its not available as an app icon yet.

So I picked up a set of 19s with Michelin PS4S4s which I had on from November to April. The 21s with the PS4s are back on and I expect them to last through next fall when I put the 19s back on.

That should be flush--the diag cables are behind the panel, maybe a cable or one of the connectors is getting in the way of it seating properly----the the thing pops out, but you need to remove the inductive charing pad first (which is a simple process).

    Accessories for 2021 Refresh Model S Plaid/LR

I looked at these a while back and decided not to. After reading product reviews, they appear to be prone to scratching, even with the best of care and need to replaced after 2-3 years, even if you are religious about maintenance.

DIY Installing CCS Retrofit in My US 2017 Model X

My Service folks specifically said the wire harness from the EU retrofit kit would not work in my '16 X as the wiring harness was different between EU and US cars. He might be mistaken, but he did a bunch of research before getting back to me, so I tend to believe what he said.

Do you use Electrify America as a Tesla owner?

Go to Controls > Software > More Vehicle Information and if your car is CCS capable, you can order the CCS adaptor from the Tesla Korea website using a re-shipper. DIY Installing CCS Retrofit in My US 2017 Model X

I was looking to do something similar so asked my SC if ordering the latest rev ECU (1495114-00-C) and having them so the install was enough to enable CCS charging or if there is more. They got back to me and said the ECU by itself was not enough--the factory-ready CCS cars have a different...

Assuming the brakes has not changed over time, you'd need the motors, something hinge-y to replace the bolts that hold the mount in a fixed position and power + LIN controller (or the like) to drive the motors. Not rocket science but also not sure Tesla would do it. In the 11 months of driving...

    Roof rubber sealant melting

I am not sure I have anything special I can tell you—opened a ticket complaining about the deterioration of the seals on the top panels of the FWDs and they came back and said the only fix was replacing the entire panel, would be $1,200 a side, but that ESA would cover it. Early '22 Exterior Refresh Tracking (Lights, Charging Door, Appliqué delete)

I am not worried about the connector--it should be pretty trivial to make a short patch cable to covert between connectors in a non-destructive manner. The SW side is the current question. Hurdle 1 is you would need to get someone to enable the new lights in the car and hurdle 2 is to see if...
