It was fine. He was nice and admitted fault.

    Grrr... got rear ended.

My favorite body shop was not able to do the work so I took it to a local Tesla Certified location. I did NOT have to replace the hatch, they were able to straighten it. I also didn't have to replace the bumper. The heavy work was behind the bumper where a section of the body got bent badly...

Cable under garage, good pass thru

IMO, I'd bring out your local garage door company. Install a nice new lower seal, and then just not close the garage door as far or with as much power. This allows the seal to just form around the wire.

PG&E Electric Home Rate Plan (E-ELEC)

I didn't know there was a new plan. I have to do some research. Especially if my commute goes up again. I use to have either free/reduced charging at work. Not sure I'll have that at my new job and I'll be charging at home a lot more. Hmmm....

Koni - Special Active (Red - Formerly FSD) and Sports (Yellow) - Coming Soon for Model 3 and Y

What I've always liked about running Koni's with aftermarket springs is the valving is generally more in tune with a lower spring. Often times, running a lower spring with an OEM shock is not ideal, has the opportunity to harm the stock shock in a much quicker time frame. I'm very interested...

    Grrr... got rear ended.

I think I'll need a new rear hatch, and full bumper. Not sure about anything underneath yet. I went to my preferred shop, and they've started putting an estimate together. Since they're not a certified tesla repair shop, they're not sure they can even get parts. I'll probably also take it to...

    Grrr... got rear ended.

Dude wasn't paying attention, clipped my right rear. No injuries. I wonder how long parts are going to take to get. I hope not too long.

MYP - stay or down-size from 21" from the start?

I dumped my 21's at 400 miles for a set of square 20's. Ride is better. Not sure if I picked up range. And I can rotate my tires! My roads are mostly decent here in nor-cal.

    Supercharger - Vacaville, CA - Alamo Dr (LIVE 18 Apr 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Journey Coffee is right near by as is Round Table Pizza. You'll have to cross the street to get to Taco Bell. Great spot for westbound 80!

Best Supercharger locations for East Bay to Tahoe

Brand new 250kw station JUST opened in Vacaville, right off westbound 80 on the west side of VV. Honestly not even 30 seconds off the freeway. Solid Coffee place, Jamaican restaurant, and donut place aside of it.

    Mudflaps in urban California?

I run fronts only, and i feel it's saved the area in front of my rear wheels quite a bit. The car throws up a ton of crap. Also going through construction areas, there seems to always be dirt. Maybe they're not as needed in the non-rainy season, but I'll still run fronts year-round.

Best Supercharger locations for East Bay to Tahoe

Davis is 250kw, and seems open. It's on the correct side of the freeway for you. Vacaville is only a 150 and is generally crowded.

Coatings For Matte Finish Vinyl Wraps

For the time being I'm using Chemical Guys Jet Seal Matte. It will last a fair amount of time. Nothing like a ceramic. I'm not sure a ceramic coating is needed on top of a wrap, but that's another thread. :)

Best J1772 adaptor to use with a Tesla Wall Charger

I have the Lectron. Very nice unit, very heavy, solid, tight connections. Good push buttons to lock both sides into the adapter. I have my wall charger set at 40A. I plugged in my friends Ioniq 5 and it just worked. No issues what so ever. (You just have to make sure your Wall Charger is...

    MY Eating Tires

GET AN ALIGNMENT!!!!!!!!!! There are a number of threads here saying that the Tesla alignment from the factory is hit and miss. I have 16k on my tires and they're perfect. A friend has 30k on a MYLR and his tires are in good shape. Lots of people with lots of miles on their tires.

Is there a way to get notified of new Super Chargers opening?

Short of driving by it every day... there's a new SC going in close to my house. They're installed, just under covers still. Is there any way to get notification? I mean if you didn't see a new SC go in, and it was close to you how would you ever know? Sure, when the map says go there, but...

Faster the charge, the more damage?

i try to charge as slowly as possible. As my commute is ~120 miles a day, When I charge at work, i'm 230/30. When I have to charge at home, I'll start it at night during off-peak hours, and set the amperage to finish approximately when I need to leave in the morning. Little more work? Sure...

Connect your Wall Connector to Tesla's app - Coming soon

Battery charging in snow and very cold weather

I'm commuting ~130 miles total a day. It generally takes 50-55% charge in total. I try to charge to 70% (while at work) so I can get back to work the next day and still be over 20% SOC. Depends on traffic/temperature/rain/etc. Now during the winter (mild winter in nor-cal), I'll trickle...

Cargo cover not as good as expected

I retrofitted the cover into my Fremont car. While it's really nice when it's closed, loading stuff into the back is a PITA with it now. Same issues, it won't stay in the 'open' or folded position. I'm not a fan.

Installed! Austin MY C Pillars for Parcel Shelf

I just installed my updated pieces this weekend. First one took me about 45 minutes, other side about 15 minutes. I opted to pull the bottom trim out as well, it just made it easier to get stuff to line up properly. Tools were a 3/8" Ratchet, 18" extension, a 15mm socket, and plastic trim...

Have you de-scummed your glass yet?

Nice little tip. use some painters tape and tape off your pillars and edge of your hood. This will help keep potential splatters away. Allows you to get closer to the edge without worrying about your paint. The polish could take ceramic, or your wax off... Works great on headlights as well...

Any tire inflators compatible with new 16v Li-Ion battery?

I just have the Tesla one. While I hope to never use the fix-a-flat stuff, having a small compressor will get you out of most jams. I like the elegance of the unit/bag combo. If you have a screw and a slow leak, just pumping the tire back up should get you the couple miles you need to go to...

2022.24.8 Weird issue regarding the update

2022 MYP. So I'm on 28.2 for a couple days. Now my autopilot is intermittent with cameras going on and off. I've tried a 2 button re-set and to re-calibrate the cameras. Sometimes works, other times nope. I'm not sure if it's a software thing, or maybe i actually have a camera that's...

Tesla Model Y Performance Real Horsepower and Torque

I want a performance boost on the MYP. I'm going to be PISSED the first time I get gapped by a Rivan R1T... Also, with the software, you can hold some power back at launch to keep the axels and drivetrain intact, then ramp up the power after that.

That looks amazing. So here's my question. I'd love to see a more inexpensive coil over option. The KW series, this Ohlins series... I realize they're amazing shocks with lots of adjustment, but I feel there's a solid market for a nicely tuned street only version. Something that doesn't have...

I got a response from my local dealer. I ordered on 8/1 and picked an 8/6 appointment. They responded saying the parts wouldn't be in and re-scheduled my appointment to 8/11. My take here is that they're not going to cancel my order. I don't have an invoice yet, so we'll see.

    Model Y lowering springs

I'd really like an in between option. I don't want to run lowering springs on stock shocks. I also don't need a 2 way adjustable KW MPP coilover at 3k. I feel there should be a good $1,500 coil over option that is optimized for the street and non adjustable shock...
