Very late update, I am shipping my car back to the States soon. Now warranty is over though. It seems like DU cost about $8,000 to fix this crap.

Tesla Korea and Tesla US are just two different organization. They won’t fix ur car.

Tesla Korea does not honor US warranty. Don’t be a guy like me bringing the car to Korea and later worry about fixing the issues, especially DU or Battery problems. You will not able to fix it unless ship the car back to the States. My biggest regret here.

well, I wrote my experience in other post. Don't bring the car from US. If your vehicle ever experience any mechanical issue that cannot be fixed easily (i.e., main battery, drive unit, MCU, etc...), then you are fxxked. Tesla Korea will never fix it even if you are willing to pay for it.

No, I talked to my (US local) service center supervisor about this. He (or she) mentioned that there should be a no problem fixing the car as long as it's under warranty.

I ended up buying a new car, obviously not a Tesla anymore. My Model S is currently at the garage and I drive 1-2 times a month in very short distance to let it alive. Hopefully I will ship it back soon.

Nah. It's not honored. Closest Supercharger near Camp Humphreys is at CheonAn, which is roughly about 20-30 minutes away. Humphreys has multiple ev chargers there though.

You can definitely ship back to US, however the tax will hit you pretty hard unless you move back with the military/DoD status (in this case, you will get it for free shipping). As long as US tesla service center changes the MCU with the US spec, it should be fine.

My routine NY trip usually cost less than 10 hours including charging time. Now it takes longer than 11-12 hours due to the horrible charging time. I am quite shocked that the throttling is real. Seriously thinking about buying ICE (Hybrid or PHEV) for the long-range trip.
