Soon to be first time parent - Help with car seat!

Appreciate the kind words! :) As a doctor, I am comfortable taking care of adult humans. A child (especially your own) is a much more daunting and scary task (16+ years of school and I am back to reading "baby manuals" and watching youtube videos) :D:)

Thank you and good to know! Cybex was one of the top 4 brands we were looking at for different systems (the other being Uppababy, Mockingbird and Nuna)

Soon to be first time parent - Help with car seat!

Thanks! We looked at the uppababy line as well. While we decided on the Nuna car seat, we got the Uppababy Vista stroller. Good to know about that there is no long term damage with the padded seat cover!

Soon to be first time parent - Help with car seat!

Thank you! I was thinking of getting an extra base for the 3 as well (vs. using the seatbelt method). The vegan leather of the 3 did make it a lot easier to install the latch system. It was way tighter with the S.

Soon to be first time parent - Help with car seat!

Hi all! New to parenting and the world of car seats. Baby is due in April and prepping the car and house for the new addition. After reading a LOT of reviews, wife and I settled for a Nuna Pipa Rx (got the Rx vs. the Light due to it being ok with air travel). Got it this week and tried...

    Got a FSD / HW3 retrofit alert 1 week post-delivery!

Thank you! I had the MCU2 upgrade in my Model S last year. Wiped every single setting (driver profiles, homelink, GPS, etc). Not complaining since I love the added features of the MCU2. ;)I was one of the first few to get it so I am chalking it up to being an early adopter. Hopefully they...

    Got a FSD / HW3 retrofit alert 1 week post-delivery!

That was fast! I took delivery of my new (to me) Model 3 last Saturday. I got this message today, and scheduled via the app for Sunday! I made an appointment for the Model S as well for the dreaded rear light fog issue (had the driver side replaced last time, now the passenger side is fogged...

    Is This a Good Deal?

It depends on if it has AP or FSD. Is it from the used Tesla Inventory? Those in the used tesla inventory will have FSD and all the software add-ons included in the price (at least as of last week when I ordered mine). If it has FSD, it is a great price and about 2-4k less than comparable in...

    Upgrading from LR 3 to S 75

100% agree. Not sure why there are a lot of suggestions to buy private party vs. Tesla themselves. Tesla prices (with included FSD and warranty) are much more competitive than most private party. The only real difference is that zero used Tesla's in their inventory will have free lifetime...

TOU plans make a world of difference!

Yep. We are at home starting around 6-7pm. Super off-peak does not really start until 10pm. Also, our SoCal winters have been unbearably cold (for SoCal standards) and we have been forced to use electric space heaters :) From month to month, we have gone down in the fall since we did not have...

TOU plans make a world of difference!

I think you cannot go Solar without getting TOU first. I have my Solar appointment Feb 24. and feeling nervous too. The initial quote from Tesla was a monthly payment of $150 for panels and powerwall for 20 years.

TOU plans make a world of difference!

True. Summer is a bit more expensive - but the price increase is in line with other plans. The silver lining is that since Los Angeles home prices are through the roof, my "fixer upper" does not yet have AC. So I will be saving some electricity there ;):)

TOU plans make a world of difference!

I first got my Model S in November 2018, I did not immediately switch to a TOU plan. This was a HUGE mistake. It has made a world of difference to my bill. This cycle was the first with the TOU and it dropped my bill from $248.87 to 95.86. I am sharing for new owners that haven't yet changed...

Model S + Coachella Music Festival Camping

Model S + Coachella Music Festival Camping

Good to know! I usually go bouldering in Joshua Tree and remember the sweltering heat. Also, last time I went to Coachella (7 years ago), it was brutally hot. This is good news as Heat takes less power than AC.

Just received the Tesla Paint Repair Kit!

Update on my little project. The paint repair kit is pretty good! It's not perfect, but the damage is now barely noticeable except when upclose and focusing on it. Living in LA, dings and such happen. This makes it look a bit better. Before and after pics below.

First 1000 miles on my Model S - Q's and observations

Good to know. This is interesting as this is pretty much the same weather we get most winter days here. I can take the 10-20% increase in the first few miles though. I rarely take short trips (distance-wise) as a typical drive is about at least 30 mins in any direction. I was planning to...

First 1000 miles on my Model S - Q's and observations

I did notice the faster acceleration with AP, but it seems to regen more as well - making it breakeven in my observations. Haha, mild for most. The wife and I had to break out the heavy jackets last night as it was raining and dropped to the low 50's! :p

Hah! Tell that to all the Ugg Boot wearing and scarf toting population all over LA right now ;):):D Good to know that we are ok for day to day "winter" driving here in LA! Now my only worries will be our yearly roadtrips to Big Bear/Mammoth/Wrighwood for snowboarding.

First 1000 miles on my Model S - Q's and observations

So I put in my first 1k miles (of pure joy! ;)) on my CPO/Used 2015 Model S 85. Some things I found out: 1. Very efficient. I usually go from 80%-60+% on a given day and charging on a regular 100v outlet has been more than enough. In 1 month of ownership, I have used the super charger only 3...

What do you guys think of this car?

Not bad, but not the best either. Some thoughts - 1. The Tesla USED/CPO site has better deals than this. I got a Used 2015 Model S 85 with 20k miles for 42,900 earlier in the month (Nov. 2 2018). Body is a bit rough, but very minor cosmetics. I'd say scour the Tesla site first before going...

Surviving on a regular 110v trickle charging

This is true. If you need to get out and go in a hurry before the 120v outlet can charge you where you need to go, having chargers nearby really help. Luckily, I have at least 4 supercharger stations all within 30-45 minutes away from where I live and over a dozen destination and 3rd party...
