12v switched power for Radar Detector

my blendmount from our bmw x5 works, so im stoked. got the harness today at tesla SC, and butt spliced it into the amazon uniden R3 wire. all set for success!
There are a couple hard wiring videos but they suck in terms of showing what needs to be removed or moved out do the way. I can try to upload a video of that would be helpful. At least point it out and the order.
 
I wanted to rewire a switch in line with the 12v+ , so I took some pictures of the socket , it's location, and what it looks like plugged in. The socket is white and below my thumb in the photos. Hopefully this helps someone.

Also - if you notice little cuts on my thumb - it's because the trim parts are pretty damn sharp. I probably should have worn gloves. :)

I have hardwired all my RD's in my ICE cars using a tap a fuse and finding a fuse that is "switched" Dumb question but forgive me as we don't have our Y yet, is there not a fuse box in a Tesla to tap into?
correct, there isn't a fuse box to make this easy like in an ICE car. I have installed radar detectors on all my previous cars. This has been a fun exercise to install my Escort Redline 360c and and my Thinkware dashcam with parking mode.

I would usually tap into the mirror power. Given the complexity of the Tesla “always on” system, the trailer brake controller was the best bet. For $4, it’s not unreasonable.

Is it confirmed that the trailer brake controller is also available on Model 3, not just Model Y?

I got switched 12V from VC Right on my Model 3. My radar detector is turned on and my dashcam goes out of parking mode when I sit down in the driver's seat and step on the brake pedal. When I get out of the car, the radar detector is turned off quickly and my dash cam goes into parking mode.
