2016 Model S 85D vs 2020 Model 3

Just wanted to get people's opinions.

If the choice is between a 2016 Model S or a 2020 Model 3, is the Model 3 the obvious choice?

I'm actually asking as my cousin wants the Model S, but for the same price he can get a 4 year younger model 3.

Just wanted to hesr the general feedback from people in the know.

Off the top, I'd probably go with the Model 3. But there probably needs to be more details about which 3 and which Y, mileage of each, trim levels, options, warranty remaining, etc.

Model 3/Y are "Tesla 2.0"

2016 Model S is very much "Tesla 1.0". (the original Roadster was "Tesla Beta")

Some of the S 85 models had their Supercharging speed severely limited after the fact, likely to stave off battery replacements under warranty.

IMO, even the interior quality of those older Model S is inferior to the Model 3.

All that said, the S is larger, more comfortable and quieter.

I faced a similar choice and bought a Model 3 (and then another!)
