Yesterday was net covering day at Fidelity. Apparently some smarter short sellers decided that that SP got as low as it could this time around, and used the opportunity. The interest rate went up from 0.75% to 1.25% in the morning.

Real deal production of, M3, TE, and a little sunshine on the horizon with solar city. What's there not to like. Look for Elon to do something different but meaningful on the capital side. He has lots of equity in space-x and is bullish on tesla's future. He's also friends with many billionaires.
Today is even more robust day for borrowing pre-market: 209k shares was borrowed vs. 186k yesterday.
It's so difficult not to buy at this price..... b/c of the historic trends in the past 3 yrs following a huge run-up. But this time feels different. Nonetheless, I will leave some cash on the sidelines (as tempted as I am to buy some more 2019 LEAPs).
I think TSLA is just filling todays gap on open, hopefully will reverse after hitting $249.99 or thereabouts...

The shorts always try to stifle tsla on days when it is expected to be strong, making it appear very weak.

Something that could be hurting tsla is CNBC reported on the Tesla harrassment lawsuit about half an hour ago as if was breaking news, and without including Tesla's response.

I don't expect CNBC to be a cheerleader, but they could stand to be a bit more balanced. That would, of course, be less exciting, and take more work.
There are going to be a lot of attacks on Tesla in the short term as shorts try to push their agenda (and the price down to trigger more selling by longs)... just have to maintain long-term perspective and the inevitable energy and automobile revolution, which Tesla has a competitive advantage in currently. Also, being a US manufacturer helps. US! US!
InsideEV estimates are out for Feb, not sure what the market makes of these numbers. For the first two months of this quarter we are ahead by a few hundred cars compared to Oct/Nov of last year. The good news is that Europe (and probably China) are substantially ahead compared to first two months of last quarter.
Today is the classic broader markets way up (on a Trump bump) but shorts doing enough selling on opening to persuade traders to look elsewhere for their gains. Fidelity is willing to increase the shares available to short because nothing too negative is happening with TSLA's SP today.
This appears to be the case. BTW, bought couple of shares at $250.05 with cash available in my self-directed portion of 401K.
I'm having the same thoughts here on the 260 number by Friday... I won't dare make any predictions, but....
Kinda kicking myself for not selling 262.50 calls for Fri on this morning's pop.... now have a few out for bid just in case it creeps up to 254-ish by this afternoon.
