These must be hybrids as normal ICEs can't have an always on connection as it will kill the 12V. Also it must have a parking heater and you can't run it in your garage. So it is a lot of IFs. So no, normal ICEs don't have that and I am pretty sure Tesla was the first to introduce that.
Nope, it was a Volvo V40, not a hybrid, 100% dirty ICE
So, the onestar app that connects to my car where i can get it's actual location, send a location to the car's satnav, check oil pressure, tyre pressure mileage and so on is ..not what you mean with an always on connection? Or is there another construct to which you're referring to?
The only point you have is; yes, it's an extra option (with the Volvo, my Opel 2017 does not have it
) i think it's the winterpackage (what's in the name) And yes, you'll have to park your car outside. But those are just drawbacks to an existing solution that existed pre Tesla.
And that's fine by me though, i don't mind the borrowing of already existing ideas, but again i stand by my point that most of the functionality is not per se new, if anything Tesla improved upon it yes, but they did not invent the weel on all accounts.
It just uses a lot of things in a more innovative and progressive way, one of the reasons why i like Tesla
"So, with the Volvo you have two choices, one go to your cold car in the garage or go out into the blowing snow to get to your warm car...."
Well yes, but get this: in Europe (where i live) 80% op the population parks their car outside, to most of us, it's a waste of space parking your car inside because let's face if, we don't have much space to begin with. And our car will be either on the driveway of on the street, so that 3 meters tops to get to your car, a little snow won't really stop you there.
