I followed your advice and called this morning. I talked to a very nice, knowledgeable and helpful young man. This was the result, almost immediately:

Delivery Appointment

Sept. 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM
St. Louis-Chesterfield
16955 Chesterfield Airport Road
Chesterfield, MO 63005-1405

Many thanks for the advice.

I'm sorry for those who ordered before I did. It ain't fair, but I'm not going to reject the car.

Also I want to mention something.
They are starting to deliver batches of white Model S with black interior to various customers in the Chicago area region. I see them on the trucks on the highway when stopped because of traffic. When there was heavy traffic and saw one on the highway I can make out that only one Plaid and rest were all Long Range's.
So there is hope.
YES! My config... in Ohio. EDD holding steady af 9/10-9/24 for 3 days now. Hoping for VINdication soon.

This stuff is so SAD; absolutely SHOCKING!! Several of us have asked why we let this company get away with this stuff and a common answer has been something to the effect of "it's such an awesome car". Give me a break; had I known about any of this when I thought about ordering, I would have NOT ordered regardless of how awesome it might be.

I love their response of "it's within limits". I sadly plan on an extremely thorough inspection with a longggg checklist...
Does anyone have a link to a thorough checklist ?
I dont know how much time you get for inspection in TX since payments are done before. Honestly I am new to this process in TX.

Mega-consolidated delivery quality issues thread

You are right, it has to be funded before pickup which does suck. But still take your time and review any issues you believe are a QC problem. Tesla will review and fix anything that is not "within spec". A few reports on the forums are saying that they are not releases cars that are not "perfect". And it seems the factory QC (with regards to paint and panel gaps) are getting better in 439+ vins.

This is taken from the NE owners club forum.

This is by no means complete, but hits the major basses. There are numerous checklists and none cover 100%; it would book a whole book..

Congrats on your THIRD Tesla, I'm only on my second, ENJOY!

Had you noticed that crack within 5 days I'm sure there would have been no issue.

If you need a referral for the new one let me know and I'll share.

A. Verify pre-delivery vehicle records

  • Check for the correct full name and address on your paperwork.
  • Confirm the vehicle’s VIN matches your paperwork.
  • Bring written or digital proof of your down payment having been made and the final payment details
  • Bring a printed insurance card.
B. Exterior inspection

  • Inspect body exterior paint for defects.
  • Inspect vehicle underside (front and rear) for signs of scraping, or damage.
  • Check for any obvious body panel misalignment, or gaps. Especially the frunk gap, charge port, front and rear lights flush with hood/panels, glass roof panels aligned, no leaks.
  • Inspect wheel rims for damage, and that all 4 valve stem covers on tires.
  • Inspect all glass for signs of distortion, scratches, or cracks.
  • Check for proper windshield and windshield trim installation.
  • Inspect all edges of the roof glass panel and rear window.
  • Test all doors to ensure they open and close without unreasonable effort or sound. Check paint in areas such as door hinges, that are not visible when doors are closed.
  • Test opening and closing of the trunk with auto-close button. The door should latch and seal automatically.
  • Test opening and closing of the frunk. Check paint in areas that are not visible when frunk and trunk are closed.
  • Check for the towing eye under the frunk mat, and that it can be easily removed.
  • Ensure door windows auto-close completely when doors are closed.
  • Check all front and rear exterior lights for signs of internal condensation.
  • With all doors open, inspect the weather seals around door gaps and windows. NOTE: Some deliveries have reported seals being “overlapped” incorrectly. This is easily fixed by hand in a few seconds, but worth noting.
C. In the driver seat

  • Check for any error messages on the display screen.
  • Touch the “Tesla T” at the top of the screen to bring up the “About Your Tesla” window. Tap the unicorn drawing to access the Sketch Pad. Leave the Sketch Pad up for a minute to make sure there are no phantom touches happening on the display.
  • Gently test the driver and passenger door emergency release.
  • Check all 4 windows to ensure they open and close properly.
  • Make sure AC/Heat works at full power without strange noises.
  • Test the sound system to ensure all speakers are working (move fade/balance to all four points to verify)
  • Test the steering wheel position controls to ensure proper operation.
  • Press the center of the steering wheel to make sure the vehicle’s horn works.
  • Check windshield for distorted view.
  • Test the windshield wipers.
  • Test the rearview camera.
  • Check side mirrors for proper operation of folding and position adjustment (minimal noise).
  • Check sun-visor operation and mirror condition.
  • Check the rearview mirror for any warping or distortion.
D. Interior inspection

  • Inspect interior seat upholstery, door surfaces, dash, liner & carpets (including rear seats, frunk, and trunk).
  • Check the windshield and windows for ripples in the glass.
  • Check left and right clothing hook operation.
  • Check all seat belts for proper operation.
  • Both front seats don’t squeak when moving (check all directions of motion).
  • Check the rear seats for proper fold-down operation.
  • Try to lift the bottom of the back seat to ensure it is securely attached to its base.
E. Connectivity inspection

  • Test connectivity in all USB ports (1 USB-A/1 USB-C in the front, 2 USB-C in the rear).
  • Check 12 volt DC receptacle has power.
  • Test connectivity of wireless phone charger.
  • Music streaming & phone streaming work, radio reception is good.
  • Test both key cards to ensure they work on B-pillar. Keep one key card on your person in case the phone app does not operate properly.
  • Pair your smartphone to your vehicle over Bluetooth. Check functions work (unlock, precondition, etc)
F. Lighting inspection

  • Vanity mirror lights, Front overhead driver & passenger lights.
  • Rear overhead left & right side lights.
  • Driver & passenger foot wells, Driver & passenger door pockets
  • Rear left & right door pockets.
  • Driver & passenger door puddle lights.
  • Console middle compartment light, Console rear compartment light.
  • All door latch button lights, All door window button lights.
  • Steering wheel control lights.
  • Glovebox light (check glovebox opening and closing).
  • Frunk light.
  • Trunk lights (2).
  • Fog lights.
  • Headlights (low & high-beam).
  • Front park lights.
  • Front turn signal lights, Left & right side turn signal lights.
  • Rear running lights.
  • Brake lights.
G. Inspect charging ability

  • Check the charge port door for proper operation and alignment.
  • Check charge port indicator light.
  • Ensure the vehicle will accept a charge.
  • Check the mobile charging kit with cable. Test it to ensure it works and each connector charge, latch, unlatch
  • J1772 adapter.
  • NEMA 5–15 120v adapter.
  • NEMA 14–50 240v adapter.
  • Test supercharger on site.
H. Final items

  • Ask your delivery specialist to make sure that your car is marked as DELIVERED in Tesla’s network. There have been reports of cars being delivered and the phone app doesn’t allow log in the following day.
  • Make sure you have copies of all paperwork necessary for good documentation of your purchase, including a copy of your signed purchase agreement. If your delivery specialist suggests that you can get your documents electronically on your Tesla account, ask for paper copies you can take with you anyway.

I'm 1152. Have had November 10-30 for a couple of weeks now. Hoping the stability of those dates doesn't mean that it's accurate. Though, based on others, I'm guessing that the early part of that range would be a best case scenario
Interesting... What is your configuration?

I am a Refresh 2021 Tesla Model S Long Range - White/Black, 19" wheels with FSD - Order date 5/28/21 (RN1150XXXXX) - Original EDD was October 2021 - Current EDD is 12/7/21 – 12/27/21

Tesla will accept a cashier's check. Prior to the delivery appointment, you have to email or text a copy of the check to the local SC as proof that you have the check. Then the appointment can proceed. Once you review the car and accept delivery, hand over the check. I would not wire $$, but that's just me.

Not how it works in Texas. If you finance through Tesla's lender, they can move the car from Fremont and you manage the funding while the car is in transit. But still paid for before your appointment. If you finance thrid-party, the car will sit in Fremont until you have the car funded. Texas laws. Still no idea how this will work once Giga Austin is online.

NOOOOO that is not what I wanted to see this morning. I am W/B/19 RN1152 7/6/21 order (located in Georgia). I have been holding steady 11/6-11/26 for 9 days now. Hoping it does not change.

Thanks for the info @cwanja . Do you know how trade in works? I want to trade in my current one to them so that I can reduce my sales tax payment. Do they just take the trade in on same day as delivery with the value that they have given online. Although I havent selected the trade in option yet.

If nothing has changed since 2019, yes. You just agree to their trade-in price and then take your trade-in to the delivery center upon pickup. They used to have a 30 day / 1000 mile limitation on trade-in evaluations. Not sure if that is still the case - no trade-in on my new order.

What ur reasoning behind check vs wire? My EDD is coming up and worry abt quality issues. Does check allow for easier canceling if the issues are too severe? Basically not handing them the check. Wire means the money is in their pocket so they can refuse to return.

I am about to breakdown and buy something in the meantime. When I placed my order back in December they said 4-6 weeks which was perfect cause my lease on my mercedes had 7 weeks left. Been renting a car since then but it's outrageous highway robbery renting a car for this long. I just can't justify it anymore in my head. I guess I'll buy something this week and sell it sometime in summer 2022 when they notify me they have my MSLR. This is just nuts.
I feel your pain. Thinking 10-14 weeks in April, I sold my Jag in June and planned to rent a car. but then my dates went blank, so I went out and bought an older model Honda CRV.......spoiled me, but not the same.
