Like this? I’m talking about the original silver and black that switched to black and gray, prompting some people to think Elon didn’t like the original silver and black and that’s why 19’s were delayed. That never made any sense. Now back to silver and black. You ordered in June so they had already changed the way the wheel covers were rendered, but now they are back to the original refresh version. Very interesting.
Ah, I see what you are saying. Yes, my reservation page has always shown the grey / black wheels. Seems they are slowly updating the orders. Never had the silver ones. Honestly, probably would have ordered the 21s had that been around when I ordered. Sadly. But I will be happy with my 19s when they get here.

Still stand by my opinion that the CGI rendering versus what is in person is darker.

Not sure where you see they are back to “silver and black” though? Your image and the designer still have the black and grey wheels.
My account hasn’t changed

I’m losing it. You hit the mail in the head. I’ve seen the aero caps in person and they are much darker than what’s shown on the website. And the website is someone darker than original. Like this…

Anyone else in my situation? Ordered MS LR on January 6 and EDD is end of November and Tesla never gives me a reason why others who ordered later are getting their cars? All of my information and loan were approved in days after ordering. Getting frustrated that exact car I ordered is being delivered at Devon but none are mine. Last call with Tesla told me to cancel and buy a different car if I could not wait….
I ordered on Dec 01, 2020. I also have an EDD of Nov. - Dec. I have never been given a reason for my order to be delayed when others are receiving theirs with the same configuration when they ordered later than I did.

Hi. Did you post pics of your tires with wheel hub two Amazon parts you posted? I see you went gray instead of black. If you posted tire pics, I can’t find them. Thanks 🙏
Aah, hadn't gotten to that yet, sorry. It's dark out so these are in garage lighting, which isn't necessarily awesome but there are a couple of photos here with more direct light and a couple that are more shadowed which I think gives a reasonable impression of how the caps look in different light conditions. A handful of the photos have the suspension set to "high" (3/4) and the others are at "low" (1/4).

I'll try to get some better photos in daylight tomorrow. In retrospect, the black lug nut caps might have looked better but these blend in pretty well. The center caps are just a tad dark.

Also - it's hard to tell from these but the center caps stick out just a tad. I'll try to get another photo of that.

A couple more, much closer in:

centercap.jpg

... This one shows my two major gripes with the center caps: one, they're flat (physically, like the face is flat) and leave a noticeable gap around them which makes them look much more aftermarket. Two: those nicks and dings are factory, we didn't do that putting them on.

I think this does a better job pointing out that the plastic color of the lug nut covers is reasonably close, but it's a flat-ish gray and without the metallic tint of the wheels, when it's bright they're noticeably the wrong shade. I think the black ones would work better, or at least a much darker gray.

Did you piss someone off there?Seriously, your RN# is lower than some I’ve seen who have their cars. Your configuration isn’t rare and they are delivering. Have you called their customer service line? (Or did you make changes to the order at any time?)
Not that I am aware of. I have not called their customer service. I have not changed configuration since initial order.

You’re awesome. Over delivered here with pics and feedback. Thanks so much!!🙏

I finally took delivery of my LR 19" yesterday. I was asked a week and a half ago to report on the type of tires. They are indeed summer tires, but the delivery specialist told me that they will swap them out (for free) for all season tires in the fall/winter. All I need to do is make an appointment to bring the car back. He's speculating that Tesla was not able to get enough of the all season tires, so they instead shipped with summer tires so they could book the sale of the car. He said to enjoy riding on the summer tires as long as possible before getting the new all season tires put on. Makes sense. He also said that Tesla will be shipping me a cover that goes in the trunk. It will be shipped in a few weeks.

I will add my general first-impressions to those already offered by others:
  • Like everyone else says, this is one cool car and is definitely worth the wait (easy for me to say now that I have mine!)
  • Tesla's thing is to minimize and simplify. Yes, there are no physical buttons to press, but that's on purpose. For example: my wife's new Toyota Highlander has maybe 8 buttons on the bottom side of the rearview mirror, while the Tesla has zero. Most of the things I was used to controlling in my Audi Q5 are set to "automatic" in the Tesla, so there's no need for physical buttons. I felt yesterday like astronauts probably feel riding in SpaceX capsules - where are all the buttons?
  • I like the yoke steering wheel, in case that's still an issue with anyone. Whereas I used to drive with my knee when eating a donut and drinking coffee, now I just turn on autopilot.
  • And speaking of autopilot, it's a much nicer system than any other I have driven recently. It stays rock solid in the middle of the lane, and it does a much better job of tracking the side of the road and painted lines than other cars I have driven. it's very well implemented.

Great news. I’m picking up Monday hoping for a Saturday out of blue call. Which SC up here? I’m Dedham. Haven’t seen a peep on how they’re handling the tire thing…thanks

Yes, I was at Dedham yesterday for the pick-up. They are a bit sketchy on communication, and now that I have seen their operation, I think they are just overwhelmed. Probably only going to get worse for the next few weeks as they scramble to meet EOQ deliveries. Worse, yesterday about half of their chargers were not working, so they were shuffling cars around to try to get them charged before delivery. I had to wait an hour just to get a chance to charge my car before taking it (it was only at 30%).

When is the official end of quarter date?

So, after ordering way back on January 15th, tomorrow at 3:30 my original Plaid (+, at the time) order is being delivered.

White/Black/Carbon/19"

It will be interesting (to me, at least) to see what initial quality looks like today versus my blue one from back in July.
Tesla will deliver lots of model S cars in their end of Q3 push. Hopefully the quality will not suffer in their quest to meet/beat analyst numbers.
