2021 Refreshed Model S - steering wheel yolk material peeling off?

Mine is starting to peel. I will have to get on it and have my Yoke replace.

Update from Tesla on the peeling yoke.

The new Yoke will go into production on Sep 30th and be available for mass deployment on October 31st. Again, they said it would be a warranty replacement.

The round wheel is still a free replacement, but I would rather keep the yoke.

Yoke steering wheel is very poor quality. Less than 7,000 miles. And the horn and turn signals are difficult to find in an emergency View attachment 950482View attachment 950483

Any tips on getting the round wheel option offered under warranty? I tried last month after making a warranty claim for my peeling yoke and my SC said that option was only for certain cars and my VIN didn't qualify for a round wheel replacement.

Mine, according to Tesla, is melting from the sun. I do not use hand sanitizer on a regular basis and it's peeling where no one ever touches...on the top knobs.

My last replacement was a G and that was done early August 2022.

I just looked in the parts catalog and it shows a Rev H, part# 1622612-00-H
Could this be the new one we are waiting for?

It could be. Rev H is really new. I just had mine replaced 7/24 and it is a Rev G.

I am in the same boat 9k miles 2021 refresh MS my yoke is perfect with zero peeling

I know I can get a new york under warranty but hate to take it in and really mess up something.

I agree fingers crossed it will last lol

Spoke with my local advisor yesterday and the "new" yoke with improved material was delayed again until late October.

My Feb 2022 MSLR started pealing a week ago. It also has some corner areas on the front facing anodized(?) face plate showing bare metal. I scheduled appt in the app. Expecting them to communicate that new version not avsilable yet. If they dont say anything, i will ask about it a couple days before the appt.

They did not give me a part number. I am pretty sure they will replace the yoke for you. Possibly even for a round wheel if you ask. At least they offered this to me.

Why does the yoke peel but the normal wheels are fine. Aren't they the same vegan material? I think Sandy Munroe did a teardown of the yoke in one his videos but I didn't see anything that would make it peel like this.

Same for me! Tesla offered me a round wheel but the Yoke is too cool!
