GRAND RUBY is halfway through Gatun locks with the Caribbean in sight.

thanks a lot @Mr Miserable for great posts and info. Keep wondering but always forget to ask... ETA times are GMT times or local times (Port times)? Thanks.
A good question. ETAs are normally reported in GMT (Z), although some ships seem to have forgotten this. I tend to report them as morning, evening etc because they are rarely that accurate!

The ETA's are derived from the Voyage Management System (names vary slightly between manufacturers) which calculates them. I may do a post on these wonderful systems and how they have rapidly developed. In fact, nowadays the biggest threat to a ship is regarded as the hacking of its VMS!

For those in Norway waiting for cars from the GLOVIS CAPTAIN, it's worth noting that SPICA LEADER is now due to arrive in Drammen at 0200 local tomorrow morning. If you don't want to go and watch in the -10C temperatures you can watch on a webcam HERE. The Holmen Syd camera quite often shows the area where offloaded Tesla's are often parked. Great information. Thank you so much

Apparently the loading of LAKE GENEVA at Pier 80 is progressing very well indeed. The target now is to try and finish the load tomorrow night. Accordingly, the ship has notified the port authorities that they plan to depart early on Saturday morning. Nothing has been confirmed yet but everyone is pretty confident that barring a disaster it will all be done and dusted tomorrow night.

At present I estimate that she will have a canal transit booked for 23 Feb but if she does leave on Saturday morning she may be able to try and get the booking brought forward 24 hrs.
We shall see...

HORIZON LEADER finally altered course to the NE yesterday on a heading that should take her all the way to the English Channel. She is currently making an astonishing 19kts despite a 4.5m NE’ly swell about 180NM NW of Madeira. I suppose the 15kt tailwind helps. Her ETA for Zeebrugge of 16 Feb remains easily achievable although the port still has her scheduled for the 17th.

GRAND RUBY is currently making her way across the Caribbean towards the Mona passage.
She has revised her ETA for Zeebrugge to 0300Z on 23 Feb. I think that reaching Zeebrugge at that time may prove to be a tad optimistic and so I would expect to see that slip right once she arrives in the Atlantic. Having said that, the weather forecast for the Atlantic during the period of her crossing doesn’t look too bad, but it is early days….

The vile GLOVIS COMPANION is making just over 18kts about 100nm SE of Acapulco at present. There are no weather concerns. She is on schedule to arrive at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal on Monday evening.
My ETA for her in Zeebrugge is 28 Feb.

LAKE GENEVA continues to load at Pier 80. As I reported yesterday, loading has progressed exceptionally well so far and the target is to complete loading tonight. The latest report I have received is that this looks very likely to happen. The ship will therefore depart around this time tomorrow. The question remains whether she will be able to capitalise on the quick load by getting an earlier canal transit. She may want to take into account some rough weather she will probably encounter on Sunday.
In the meantime my estimate for her arrival in Zeebrugge on 7 Mar remains.

GLOVIS SIRIUS will arrive at Pier 80 on 16 Feb. She will be the biggest ship of Q1 and will very likely be the last ship of Q1 to Europe from Pier 80.
I have pencilled her in to arrive in Zeebrugge around 12 Mar.

GLOVIS CENTURY This ship is loaded with the first Chinese manufactured Model 3s for UK and Ireland.
She is making good progress across the Mediterranean and is presently N of Tunisia in almost calm conditions. Her ETA for Southampton is 0100 on 17 Feb. The Southampton port schedule has her booked in to arrive at 0330 on 17 Feb.

MORNING CELLO I suspect this ship may be heading to the UK with Tesla Model 3s onboard too.
I haven’t received a satellite-derived position from her since midnight and so I am estimating that she will have now entered the Gulf of Suez. She is scheduled to arrive at the southern entrance of the Suez Canal this evening and my current estimate for her arrival in Southampton is 21 Feb.

I am now pretty well convinced that TORONTO is not carrying any Teslas and so I believe that this ship is no longer of interest to us.

There remain serious doubts whether MORNING CAPO is of any interest to us either however there is one avenue I need to explore before finally discarding her from our list and hopefully I will have reached a conclusion to that by tomorrow.
MORNING CAPO due to arrive in Zeebrugge on 6 Mar, currently enroute to Suez.

Over at Pier 80 a problem has occurred which will delay the departure of LAKE GENEVA!
I have no details except that there is no chance of her leaving tomorrow morning as hoped.
'Maybe tomorrow evening' is the best estimate I could extract.

Meanwhile MORNING CELLO is anchored off Suez waiting for her transit slot. A northbound wave should be departing soon and so fingers crossed.

Wondering if these ships refuel at Suez too or can they go all the way from Singapore to Southampton directly?

They can go for months without refuelling again - next time they are passing Singapore. Bunkering is quite an interesting subject and shipping companies have specialist departments which look at nothing else but where and when to refuel their ships - the cost savings can be huge and are usually contracted months in advance.

The San Francisco port schedule has finally been updated. It confirms that GLOVIS SIRIUS will be the last ship from Pier 80 in Q1 but changes her arrival date at Pier 80 to 19 Feb. On that basis I will revise my estimate for her arrival in Zeebrugge to 15 Mar.
