Just talked to Tesla and was told my Model 3 RWD arrives in Southampton on/around 11 March. Collection is scheduled for 12 March.

Is it on the RCC Amsterdam (ETA 6 March), Glovis Chorus (ETA 09 March, but is this a Tesla ship?) or possibly the Morning Carina (ETA 12 March, unless it arrives earlier)?

I don't think GLOVIS CHORUS is bound for the UK. Zeebrugge possibly but Koper is likely.

If you're collecting the car on the 12th March then I would have thought that RCC Amsterdam is more likely, it will take a few days to PDI and clean the car plus transport it to your collection point (unless this is Southampton). There will be many cars offloaded and they will all have left the factory 5 weeks ago, been sat in car parks and at the docks then spent several weeks onboard ship so will need a spruce up before delivery, this will take a few days.

BBC Report:

“A 127m-long Russia cargo ship called the 'Baltic Leader' transporting cars has been intercepted overnight by the French Navy in the Channel and escorted to the Port of Boulogne-Sur-Mer in Northern France," the official said.

"It has been taken to the French port after a request by the French government because it is suspected of belonging to a company targeted by EU sanctions against Moscow. French border forces are currently investigating the cargo ship. Crew aboard the 'Baltic Leader' has been cooperating with French authorities.”

I wonder what cars are on this ship?

Oh no, not another .....
Yes, the FINAL competition of Q1 2022!

GLOVIS SYMPHONY COMPETITION

Where will GLOVIS SYMPHONY be at Midday UTC on 14 Mar 22?
She could be sailing between Suez and Southampton.

EU Maj Sq.png

All you have to do is choose a major square and then one of the 25 minor squares within it, that you think the ship will be located in.
(I realise they aren't actually square!)

Minor Squares.png

Although a lot of likely major squares contain land, careful selection of the minor square will place your selection at sea eg Major Square P3 and Minor Square 23 is fine but P3 and 1 is going to be a loser!

Only 1 entry per person. It's free to enter.
In the event of a tie, the person who chose the closest small square first will be declared the winner.
The competition will close for entries at Midday UTC on 08 Mar 22 .
There is no prize - it's just bit of fun!
Results will be announced on the shipping thread on 14 Mar 22, shortly after Midday UTC.

As it’s “my ship” it’s be rude not to enter!

Today I had some errands to run near Park Royal, and decided to go see a MY in person for the first time. I thought it would be a great opportunity to talk to a Tesla SA about my order. The fam was there, loved the showroom car on display, and I got chattin'. Politely asked about where my order was at, he asked for my RN, and he took a quick glance, and said "I see you have a VIN assigned... and your car is on a ship inbound called the MORNING CARINA". I was ecstatic, as I let him know I wouldn't be able to pick up a car on the 29th and beyond. But knowing this, I knew I would get it way before the 29th.

So I am quite relieved.

Paid a visit to the Southampton collection site this morning to test drive the model Y. There were hundreds of MYs in a compound all lined up in the port. I have a collection date of 17th March and when I queried my order with the lady at Tesla, she looked it up on her laptop and it said it was already ‘at terminal in compound’. So mine must be amongst the hundreds already lined up. I presume offloaded from SFL Composer. So I don’t think they’re handing them over to customers as quick as people think they are. Considering I won’t be collecting for at least another 2 weeks. It’s therefore impossible to guesstimate which boat your vehicle is on.

That makes sense to me as I’ve had a VIN since the 3rd Nov but not collecting till the 16th March. Wish they would get a wriggle on. I’m even happy to drive down to get it tomorrow to help them out…..

I was informed again by a SA in person, that Tesla are really eager of getting them into customers hands as quickly as possible. I suspect that there is time taken to register the vehicle with the DVLA, getting plates printed/mounted, and prepping it for customer delivery (checks, wash, etc.). That time is varied, but I think it is anywhere between 6-8 days from what I have been hearing on here from others. So if your vehicle is on a ship, and as soon as it docks it can take up to 2 days to unload, then 1 day to transport if your delivery hub is not at port.

It all adds up. By my calculation worst case from ship-to-customer it's approx. 11 days.

I was told my MYLR is on the MORNING CARINA today. And a week ago I was told over the phone that I would probably pick up the vehicle on the 23rd. Now looking at @Mr Miserable 's dates, the ship is predicted to arrive at Southampton on the 12th. A bit of arithmetic here: 12 + 11 = 23. It seems right.

Also I think Tesla like to batch process as much as possible, so even if my MYLR is ready before then, they would rather have set delivery dates at certain hubs. I was told the Bluewater hub has two in late March, one on the 23rd and another on the 29th.

It may also at different hubs, and most definitely changes completely when a customer is looking for more options for delivery (or refusing to pick up at certain dates, etc), where Tesla offer home delivery.

This is all speculative, and an educated guess from my experience and what I have read on here. But at the very least, I hope that gives some peeps more insight.

Just bit the bullet and call CS. They wouldn’t tell me which ship my car is on but he did tell me it will be arriving in Southampton on 01 March. He said the 15 day turnaround before collection in Manchester was due to the amount of cars coming in and the transport logistics getting them to collection sites.

I was more than happy with how that call went but he called me straight back with my reg so I’m doubly happy. Will be MA22 …

The excitement builds even further…..
