Accidental hitting of park break on drive stem at highway speeds...

I've never actually done this but a few times on my last road trip I nearly depressed the park brake while changing hands or shifting in my seat. Has anyone actually pressed the brake button at speed? If so, what happens?

At one point I was pretty convinced I accidentally tapped it quite hard and was surprised the car didn't rush to a halt...

parking brake. pretty much just like any other...but electrically controlled
need to hold it, not tap
I've tested it a few times & use it while diving for a sec after every car wash to dry the pads so they don't rust to the rotors

Your car will abruptly come to a stop if you tap the button at speeds 4mph and under.
At 5mph and up you have to hold it.

The car isn't stupid, it doesn't always do as you say

If you hold at freeway speeds, it's like braking moderately but only with the rear wheels.....sort of like an emergency brake if the main system fails....plus whatever regen you get which means you can brake pretty quickly without the main hydraulic brakes.

If you press and hold it will brake.

If you keep your foot on the accelerator the car won't stop. You'll just overpower the brake.

Yup. The parking/emergency brake is not very strong.

Sure you can. Lift the lever to put your car in neutral then put press your thumb on the ebrake.
Little bit different from the old days but it should work.

I've pressed it a few times on accident, it slows the car down using the emergency brake.

It's basically how you would stop the car in an emergency if the brakes don't work.

I'd be very surprised if the ebrake will lock the rears on anything other than teflon covered ice. Be great if I was proved wrong though!
