Probably can’t put too much camber in the front because it’s too close to the knuckle. 18x10.5 ET30 is gonna be show car setup and definitely not a good idea for track or sometime even daily driving... most of the people run this setup when they have air suspension install.
MPP set the Laguna Seca lap record with an 18x10.5 square setup. Adjusting the camber (which requires aftermarket upper arms) doesn't change the space to the knuckle but it does help you to clear the fenders.
I've got 18x9.5 ET39 with 265/40 tires with the regular brakes and I wouldn't want less offset than that on the front since they already stick out a few mm beyond the fenders at stock ride height.

Yes, that setup is probably best left to professionals trying to set lap records. :D

Depends on your goal,
1. Will you be taking your car to track?
If yes, 18x9.5 ET30-35
2. Just for daily driving?
If yes, 18x9 ET25-30
3. Do you care about the range?
If yes 18x8.5 ET20-24

Stupid question...can’t you go 19x8 squared with a 20 offset? I figure the reduction in wheel width would allow a lower offset.
Only if you also run narrower tires. 19x8 with 20 offset should extend out about the same 19x9.5 with 40 offset (which do fit). Not sure why you'd want to run narrower wheels unless you're going for the BMW i3 look.

235s fit an 8 in and are a little stretched on a 8.5. Also the idea is for efficiency while keeping the look. BMW I3 is waaaay off base than what I’m talking about. They run a 155

I considered this briefly when I researched upgrading from 18s to 19s with the goal of maintaining OEM specs to not affect range too much. But with your et20 offset, I would think that would widen the stance and compromise the steering and driving dynamics to the extent it would feel markedly different than stock, even though the range may stay the same.

I considered this briefly when I researched upgrading from 18s to 19s with the goal of maintaining OEM specs to not affect range too much. But with your et20 offset, I would think that would widen the stance and compromise the steering and driving dynamics to the extent it would feel markedly different than stock, even though the range may stay the same.
I think the range would be adversely affected. Those little ducts in the front bumper might be direct air into the tire instead of around it.

Interesting enough I am on oem 19s with 15/20 spaces and my wh/mi is 260-270 normal driving. My personal goal is to have an aftermarket wheel that's flushed without sacrificing range. From all angles you can't even tell the width of the wheel and I'm seeing if this setup allows a deeper concavity with sub 300 efficiency. Its not like people here that run aftermarket wheels are caring about driving characteristics or performance unless you are going down to 18s. This thread is a pure vanity thread.

It's not that noticable until you go ultra wide wheels, I'm not even that extreme with 10 in wheels and my avg is 226 wh/m, the largest factor is still driving style.

I've only had my aftermarket wheels for about 2 weeks so far wh/m is about 270. I live in SE Phoenix, right now the A/C is killing range. I use 20-25 miles of range per day car just sitting to keep cabin below 100 degrees. That's with the car garaged most of the time.
 
I'm starting to wish I suck with factory offset. Originally I thought those engineers probably knew best, but decided to get 19x9 with 35 offset anyways.

Now I'm one of those people with pitted paint on the rockers :(

I'm considering mud flaps now, or going back to stock, I'm not sure which will look worse.

Maybe i should have the guy who added ppf to the front do my rockers in the same material. Not sure how well one of those kits would turn out of I do it? Also I added ceramic to the car so that might have to be removed first? Probably not worth repainting the area first as that would be really expensive?

Xpel rates the installation difficulty at "one" for the rocker panel vs a "three" for a bumper. I had side skirts repainted before on another car and it cost $500. I don't think you have to remove the ceramic coating to install PPF as long as the area is clean and free of oils. Most will say that you will need to buff out the ceramic coating.

I don't think I know of a shop here that will do any multicoat white for under $2k. But I'll probably leave it alone since it's under the car.
