All Model 3s built since 9/1/2019 have a pedestrian warning speaker installed

Funny question, does anyone know what the pedestrian warning speaker connector looks like on the MCU side? Back in July 2019 when I was inspecting whether my March SR+ had HW3 installed I noticed an odd loose connector in the dash. At the time, nobody knew what it was, and I'm wondering whether all SR+ have the harness/speaker, and just don't have them plugged in (it's the connector with red and green wires)

Nope this is the audio connector.

Ah thanks. So the external speaker is connected to the MCU using the same connector as the interior audio system? That probably explains why Elon says it's cost-prohibitive to retrofit.

Still makes me wonder what my mystery wire is on an early-run SR+. Maybe just a connector for an interior light that's unused.

This post title is not true. I have a June 2020 and it doesn't make any noise when going forward at a slow speed.

Gasaraki, the forward sound is very similar to a fan noise, or white noise as some call it. I hear it only in my garage, with windows down, switching Park, Drive, Park... Took a while before I picked it up. I also thought I had no forward noise for a while

Hey guys, my build is 7/19 and I do see the "speaker grill" under the front bumper. Would that mean I might have the hardware for plug-and-play pedestrian warning system? I did NOT receive that was part of my software update. ☹

I feel your pain. I just got the update. Not only do I dislike the 60/40 split, I also didn’t get any notice of all the fancy external speaker stuff. (Mine was a June/July 2019 build).

I’m going to look for the speaker wiring tomorrow out of curiosity.

It's hard to say. Our December 2018 was the first Model 3 where the speaker grille was discovered but I don't think they started installing the actual speaker until around September 2019. Yours might have wiring or it might not. All Model Y have the wiring but ours didn't have a speaker until we installed one ourselves to see if it would work.

Thank you for the response. Also, just to confirm...what the easiest way to check for the wiring?

Let me know!!

june 2019 car, doesn’t appear to have the wiring. No 2 wire plug floating about.
I do see the three wire plug under the frunk. But no 2 wire.
