All these Model S-crashes did NOT result in a fire

Another Model S crash occurred, yesterday, this time in Germany, in our area even:

Sorry that the page is in German, but the gist of the accompanying article (which isn't included in the link I posted) is: two men crashed into a tree next to the Autobahn yesterday, after having lost control of their Model S (interestingly, the article makes no mention of the type of car at all, yet the pictures clearly show that it is/was a Model S) while driving through a section with road construction works. They veered off to the right, broke through a fence and ended crashing into the tree. Both were trapped in the car, had to be rescued (i.e. cut out) and were severely (though not critically) injured.

Wow, ample crumple zone FTW! Model S front taking the hit to protect its occupants! The rest of the car doesn't even appear to be deformed. Awesome

Yes, another excellent example of the Model S's safety saving lives. Hard to tell what their speed was, but given that they were on the Autobahn, that they hit a tree, and the damage to the front of the car, it looks like it might not have been survivable in a car with an engine up front.

Hard to tell what their speed was, but given that they were on the Autobahn...

Strange thing is, the article says the accident happened on a stretch with road construction works. Along such passages, the standard speed limit in Germany is 80 kph, sometimes even 60 kph. Sure, not everybody adheres to the speed limit, but along construction works many people do, because they know that those passages are speed-trapped more often and the fines are double. From the looks of the damage though, they must have gone quite a bit faster than 80kph (or must have hit the tree without any braking before).

Please seeNational Vehicle Fire Statistics | Chandler Law Groupthis a classic case of "better you are, higher you are. Higher you are, more people are going to take shots at you, which does not make you of lower quality"TESLA is the best there is.
