Another wrong assumption. I have been shooting since I was 6 years old. Competed at the National Level in Practical Shooting (USPSA, 3-gun, etc) as of a few years ago but haven't been shooting much lately (other priorities). I have a safe full of firearms and reload my own rifle and pistol rounds.I always get a kick out of people who have probably never held a firearm let alone shooting one offering "expert" advice.
being trained is far better than not being trained if the SHTF.
You are twisting my words. Where did I say that not being trained was better than being trained? Nowhere. I also never claimed to be an expert. I also don't see how what I said constituted advice. I have attended a bunch of training in my day but I cannot tell you with certainty what I would do if the targets were firing back. Unless you've been in combat neither can you. I've seen plenty of people freeze up when hunting (I did my first time hunting - tracked the deer in the scope but couldn't pull the trigger) and the deer aren't going to hurt you. Once I watched a guy cycle live rounds while tracking the deer but never pulled the trigger. No matter how realistic the training is you know that you can't be hurt and so it's undeniably different than the real world. I can only hope that if I'm presented with the need to defend myself or my family I won't freeze and that my shots will be true. That was what I was saying in my last post.
At the end of the day I simply choose to live in a place where I don't need to be armed in order to feel safe. Of course it's quite possible I'm a fool as plenty of people around here are armed so what do I know.
