Any issues with Tesla when wanting to modify order after confirmation???

Placed order on Tuesday the 15th for a January delivery online. I ordered a P85/ 19 wheels/ air/ tech/leather/prem sound/fog/parking/

Today i had my test drive here in so cal and after the drive i was told by sales that i didn't need fog lights in LA and if i wasnt a huge audiophile no need for the premium sound...i can always stream xm from my iphone and it will work on the regular sound system... which is why i went for the premium sound.

Now i called Tesla this afternoon ( no more than 2 days) after confirm) to say i'd like to modify my order by taking off the fog lights and premium sound.

The tesla rep told me that it was too late and i was stuck with my order. The reason being that they have already sourced my parts.

Now i find it curious that if i had placed my order for a 60 and 2 days later wanted to upgrade to the 85 they would gladly do that...and not tell me that i'm stuck with the 60 that no one wants. Clearly for an upgrade they will restock product...but not if i want to reduce a couple of items that to me seem like it has no material impact on the fabrication of the car 2 days after the confirm.

It seems very small minded for Tesla customer service to dissapoint a brand new customer shelling out 90K plus over asking to remove 3K worth of options It has definitely left me with a bad taste in my mouth and i haven't even received the vehicle!!

As soon as i got off the phone with the sales rep after I said she should seriously find a mgr or someone higher up to discuss this with...she said she would, but it was their policy to not alter after confirmation. She assured me i would hear from them tomorrow. I almost want to cancel and lose the deposit! And i love the ffffng car!

any body else have an issue like this?

I've actually changed my order several times after I confirmed (of course, I had anticipated waiting a while for delivery). Some features were added, others removed. Each time they emphasized that may not be possible to change the order, but they always accommodated :)

If that doesn't work, It never hurts to try again, ask someone else (have your SA call someone else for you, or write directly to [email protected]).

That being said, if you drive to the beach areas, it does get foggy, which is why I went for the fog lights (and I like the look). Search the threads for people's thoughts on the sound system, many people are disappointed with the standard. Good luck!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I confirmed my order then sent an e-mail the next day asking to change from S to P. I got an e-mail and a call from Tesla indicating they were willing to change my order. I find it AMAZING that they have already sourced your order. I ordered more than 3 weeks ago and MY Dashboard is still indicating they are sourcing. I have not been provided a production/delivery date yet. When I ordered, the website said one month delivery time for a P. It's beginning to look like more than 2 months as I am seeing early December delivery dates popping up now for those who confirmed AFTER me.
Oops! Just looked and an e-mail got waylaid to junk mail. My delivery is scheduled for 27 Nov!!!! (I right away added Tesla to the "allowed" list!!!!!)

Problem resolved!

They took care of me and i'm picking up in Fremont on the 29th of November!!!

it's certainly possible as I've done it. You are working with people after all and there is some wiggle room. Your best bet is to speak with your delivery specialist regarding this. The sourcing of parts seem to take about 3 weeks before it goes into production, which takes about 9 days.

wait...you went from a January pickup to a November pickup?

Yes they called me a day after I confirmed. I was told i could have the car as early as mid November...i'm spending the Thanksgiving weekend in San Jose at brother's (who owns a Tesla 65). I asked if i could pick up car on Nov 29th. They confirmed that would be fine! I also set up a tour of factory at same time.
