That is about .8” bigger diameter than stock tires. Those tires are already quite tall. What are you hoping to achieve by going with those tires?I’ve searched and cannot find confirmation. Is anyone actually running 255/45/18 on OEM Aeros?
If so what brand and any rubbing?
TIA!
235/45/18 is a lot of sidewall already. I could see 245/45/18 but honestly it doesn’t sound like 255/45/18 is a great idea.Bit more width, but more sidewall.
Have a MY that I replaced the OEM 255/40/20 for 255/45/20. I like the extra sidewall. 1” more in that case so hoping to achieve the same on a 3 that I’m planning on picking up in next few months.
I think the specs on Tire Rack's page are provided by the tire manufacturer. My tires are sources with a diameter of 27.1" and fits. Another member has 27.3"tires but is making contact. There's a difference of greater than 0.1" looking at both our photos. I'd about relying on the posted specs for tighter fits.A 255/45R18 should fit at 27”. A few models oversized by as much as .2 to .3” have rubbed, but TireRack.com lists specific diameters of everything they sell.
This size will be a little less crisp in handling on an 8.5” wheel, but will indeed maximize curb protection and bump compliance.
Do you really need spacers?I just had a set of Firestone Indy 500s in 255/40-19s installed and they fit fine. The dimensional specifications are similar. I'm on 19 x 8.5 +35 with a 5mm spacer. It clears the top of the knuckle by nature just under a 1/4 inch. In the size I bought, it may be running slightly smaller than the specified diameter. Of course, I can't speak to the 255/45-18 with any certainty.
Not at all. It was just for aesthetics.Do you really need spacers?
