AP 1.0 , 2.0 , 2.5 ?

Np. AP1, 2 and 2.5 are all different hardware.

AP1 cannot be upgraded and has most likely reached is peak feature-set.

If you purchased or are planning to purchase FSD, AP2.5 can be upgraded to AP3 (no word on exact timing).

There is intense debate on whether 2.0 has an upgrade path to AP3 (again, assuming you purchased FSD).

Tesla is not offering upgrades from AP2 to 2.5.

If you search the forum, you’ll find plenty of threads on this subject.

Actually, it's been clarified that AP2 will go to AP3 - Musk clarified it either Friday evening or Saturday. However, it appears that the MCU module (MCU1) won't be upgraded to MCU2 - different computers for different functions. The AP module is for AutoPilot, the MCU module is linked to the IP screens. There is also an upgrade path at the owners cost to upgrade the MCU - I believe it's costed to be around USD$2500. The other part of the question is when this AP2 to AP3 upgrade will occur. At this point, it's unclear. As stated, AP1 doesn't have the hardware to upgrade and it would be prohibitively costly to consider a retrofit. If you're looking for a Model S with as much functionality as possible, then look to those produced February 2018 or later.

[edit] - I found this article that clarifies the differences:
