AP nag causes AP nag

I noticed that after the recall update, even peaking the screen to read your speed just by moving your eyes causes AP nag which is dump because looking at the screen of M3/Y is the only way of knowing your speed.

If your hands are off they wheel, but with torque you can take a look. If you constantly apply torque, you have a bit more freedom to look around. If you are driving hands free, you have 0 freedom to look around.

That's how it's always been for FSDb as well.

The government didn't tell Tesla to nag the driver if they look at their instruments. It's a bug.

So long as you're applying torque with that hand (you should feel resistance to that torque), then you're doing it right.

Other Hands-free systems like GM Super Cruise, Ford Blue Cruise... don't have this kind of bug. It's a bug manufactured by Tesla, not the government, not GM, not Mercedes eyes-off, hands-off L3 Drive Pilot...

SC and BC absolutely do not allow you to look at your screen. Have you ever driven one? They scream at you almost instantly.

I have to look away from the road in excess of 5 seconds before it starts to nag. Which is much longer than I’m comfortable with anyways. A “quick glance” does nothing.

I had a F150L for a week and I couldn't even glance at my phone. FSDB/AP is much more lenient on my cars.

But like all things, they vary by car/individual opinion. I consistently change stations and re-route nav without warnings on all of my Teslas.

I covered the cabin camera and the nags are back to normal and not way too sensitive. That wouldn’t work when I had FSD trial with my 2023 model S but works with basic autopilot.

The nagging is now insane, I never let go of the steering but get nags every few minutes. Tug this way, that way.. it still nags. Then the blue mist appears and no amount of tugging, beyond disengaging will satisfy it. Autopilot is now unusable. That said, it’s better in daylight (still nagging) but the core problem appears to be at night.

Cover the camera if you don’t have FSD
