from what im reading the edit button gone doesn't really mean anything if you did recent changes to your order

If you are a day 1 or 2 reservation holder, you'll have you car before labor day weekend. If you ordered it last week, relax they'll let you know.
That is basically impossible. Look at the spreadsheet. There are tons of day one and 2 reservation holders who have not heard anything yet waiting for a car.
I configured on June 27th. My edit button has been gone since the "confirm your info" page was pushed out 2 weeks ago. However, I can still access the edit page via the URL (last I checked was on Friday). But today I thought about changing the color and went to the link, and it just takes me back to my main page. Wonder if its worth giving Tesla a call, I got a really good insurance quote that expires soon and they want a VIN to finalize :-/

It's far less when you ordered than it is when you reserved. Once the AWD reservation bubble is delivered orders will be filled within days. Do you truly want a different color or are you trying to game your position? Pick the car you want not want what the latest fever predicts.
Oh it is? Just curious where you got this insider knowledge? Not sarcasm. Seriously, what is your evidence for this?
Stop watching the spreadsheet. Tesla just received 10,500 vins, that's two weeks worth of production!

12 semester hours in statistics, a career of making data informed decisions. That is NOT a Tesla spreadsheet, it's opt-in voluntary. There is another user spreadsheet with twice the data.
The lines aren't producing purely AWD non P models. Yes, it is roughly two weeks worth of production, but that really doesn't mean anything. They register VINs all the time. I'm really not sure your point.
So no actual evidence. Just your evaluation of available data. Got it.
Just got off the phone with Tesla, they said I have a "tentative" VIN and I should be contacted within a week, although they refuse to give me the VIN. Now its more waiting. Not gonna change my design and jeopardize it, I also have a trip in early September and really hoping that my delivery doesn't fall into those dates.
