How long before scheduled/completed delivery did you guys actually find out you had a DS assigned? And at what point did they first contact you? I'm curious because I feel like I'm my own delivery specialist - I make a bunch of calls and figure things out on my own.

Earlier this week, our DS said "oh maybe by the end of this week, latest end of next week". We had a delivery date of LAST Saturday and it never happened. We live in RI and don't have a Tesla store. Closest one is in Mass and their state law is that if you do not live in Mass, you can't take delivery of a Tesla. So, we were initially supposed to drive out to Mt. Kisco, NY (3.5 hrs away) but then they started talking home delivery. So, yesterday at 10:50AM I got a call from a random number. I didn't answer because I thought it as a robo call but they left a VM. THANK GOD I listened to it because it was a a delivery company saying "uh, we will be at your house in 30 minutes". Delivery was okay, a lot of minor/moderate cosmetic issues but we already called Telsa and they are fixing it. When we spoke with our DS, she sounded surprised and caught off guard that we already got the car delivered (like, whattttt???). So now, we have our car we've been waiting so long for and I CAN'T DRIVE IT ANYWHERE, because I have not title to go register it. As Friday approaches, and a long weekend ahead, I probably won't be able to drive my car until friggin' next week :( But, letting go of my first world problems, i've been driving back and forth in my driveway, maybe even around the neighborhood and it is.....nothing short of incredible. We've been emailing our DS asking about when we are getting the paperwork, still nothing. In my opinion they should have overnighted it, since we rushed last week to close on our loan and overnight our check (which cost almost $90), but here we are with no paperwork. That's where we are right now and despite the fact I can't really drive it, to check in the garage and FINALLY see it there is the THE BEST feeling! Good luck to everyone waiting!!!! Someone else on this thread already said it but, it's soooooo worth the wait, and I haven't even been able to drive it yet!!!!!

FINALLY! I now have a VIN and my completed MVPA for financing and delivery scheduled 10/21 afternoon. Car is supposed to arrive in Alpharetta 10/20 so they wanted to schedule delivery 10/22 but I’m out of town 10/22 thru 10/26 so I asked them to push it a littlle and try to get me on the 21st. Yippee! Oh, VIN is 094XXX.

FWIW, I first called the standard Tesla customer service line because my last few calls to the delivery hotline yielded nothing but polite people saying “be patient, someone will call you soon.” Well the standard line is even worse, the poor guy literally couldn’t tell me anything. He said he thought I would be assigned a Delivery Specialist within 7 days. SEVEN DAYS! So I said my goodbyes, waited 5 minutes, and called the delivery hotline instead. The nice lady there listened to my sob story, then said “well, your previous order was cancelled because you didn’t have a VIN, and I’m happy to report that you now have a VIN.” Just like that, 5 minutes after the other guy told me 7 days until contact.

So stoked. This feels real. Really real. I hope everyone else on here gets your VIN and car soon.

Took delivery in Chicago (Westmont) yesterday. I can't say enough good things about the delivery processes. My DA took me out to the car where we did a 15 minute walk through. She let me check for issues, ask questions, etc. Then once I said I had no more question, we walked back inside, I signed one piece of paper (I did everything else electronic prior to arrival) and I drove off. My DA was so friendly and excited to answer any questions I had. I never felt rushed or like she was trying to hurry things up.

The car was near perfect. Panel gaps look great, paint was flawless.... but there is one small spot where the stitching looks like something tore it on a one inch area of the drivers seat. Didn't see it until the today. It was not an issue when I called the service center. I live two states away in Michigan so they set up valet to pick my car up here and deliver a loaner to me until they could replace the seat.

For everyone still waiting - It. Is. Worth. It.

Every time I read someone post that same sentiment in this thread I thought yes the car is cool but it can't be cool enough to get past the last 2.5 years. I was wrong. If I got asked to wait again, I would wait all 915 days without hesitation. No matter how much I read about the car it never prepared me how amazing the experience of driving it is. The flawless integration of the hardware with the software combine with the beautiful engineering put this car in a class by itself. This car is a game changer for main stream automobiles.

To quote Ferris Bueller:

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Baffling that it somehow exceeds all expectations.

Glad to hear it - hope this is real for you - so bizarre how one half of the company has no clue what is going on...let me know how "our" car looks when you get it! Maybe there is hope for me yet to get mine soon!

Aaaand I have a car. It's amazing. Hang in there, everybody! It had 3 small paint bubbles on the passenger doors, which were noted in the due bill by the Tesla rep that delivered my car and will be fixed at some point in the near future. I live 15 minutes from the Westmont, IL SC, so the rep drove it over and his coworker followed in an X to give him a ride back. It took all of 20 minutes, including me going around the car 3 or 4 times with my iPhone flashlight looking for paint defects. There are no crazy panel gaps, the hood is appropriately flush, and the headlights looked properly fit. There were no burrs on the steering wheel or loose threads hanging down from the headliner.

In case it helps anyone, I reserved in July of 2017. I ordered a silver metallic over white AWD 3 on 9/13/18 after getting the email about being able to get an obsidian black or silver car in 2 to 4 weeks. It took me 3 weeks from hitting "order" to there being a car in my driveway.

Best of luck, all. It's so amazing!!!!

You ordered a month after my first (canceled) delivery date. Lucky bastard.

That's ****ing ridiculous, and I'm sorry.

They make a great product, but large portions of their company need to be cleaned out with a flamethrower, or better yet be run by people who know what they're doing. My friend's brother bought a p3d whose hood was scratched badly at delivery. They fixed it for him, but the first time he turned towards the sun while driving, he couldn't see out of his windshield. Turns out when they fixed the scratch, they didn't mask his windshield and had unintentionally clearcoated it. Oops.

And just like that my MVPA shows up on my Tesla page last night. Going to send it over to my credit union later today to finalize everything. Car is supposed to get to Alpharetta on Monday and I have a delivery scheduled for Tuesday the 9th. Now I will be praying to automotive gods that it gets there on time and undamaged. Keep your fingers crossed. I will say this...once the process gets moving it goes REALLY quickly.

That’s awesome Dan, keep us posted!

Yeah, thought about you while this was happening. You must be up next. And yeah, totally crazy how that works. Literally 5 minutes between phone calls where one person says “7 days until you even hear from us” and the next person says “you have a VIN, let’s schedule delivery.” Tesla really needs to work out the glitches in their customer service process before they start delivering the $35k car at even greater scale, otherwise I’m afraid they will have massive order cancelations. I really want this company to succeed.

Anyway, I’ll keep you posted on any developments with OUR car!

Thanks!

Curious...how are you handling payment? I am loathe to give them any more money until I can physically see and inspect the car and know there are no major issues. I am doing a sizable down payment and the rest financed through my credit union. There is the option to make a payment through my Tesla page for the down payment part. I don't want to bog down the delivery process on the day I get the car so I would like to have everything in hand ready to go when I show up. Would it be best to have my credit union write one big check for the entire balance and then square the down payment with them or do two separate checks...one from me and one from the credit union. I really would rather not leave anything to chance with a transfer on the day of the delivery in case there is an issue at the last minute.

Thoughts?

Dan

How many of you have/had a trade-in as part of the purchase process? I did the self evaluation nearly a week ago, but have heard nothing from any trade-in advisers. At what point do you get the trade-in offer? How long did you have to wait?
It took a while for me to get my offer - I submitted the info on 9/10 and didn't get the offer until 9/16. Of course with the delay in my delivery (I was one of those scheduled multiple times without a VIN) - I will likely have to go through all of that again. I know others got a fairly quick turnaround - so does seemed to be quite a variation - even when the submissions occurred on the same day.

I never did hear back. The DA suggested I submit a CarMax quote, which I did and they simply took that. Others have said it took a couple of days.

If you have a lien then they need a payoff quote from your lender. They won’t ask you for it but you should submit that to your ida (unless you own it outright and already submitted a picture of the title). In my case that’s what was holding it up and I got a quote a few hours after submitting it.

Either way you should follow up with your ida if you want it to move along.

Yeah, it's been paid off for years. I'll need to follow up with the IDA, whoever that is.. gotta figure that out first. Thanks for the tip.
