Further movement this morning!

Called right at 11 local (9 Pacific) and after about 5 minutes got through to a nice CS guy on the main number, verified nothing had happened with my trade since I last called Thursday and was told it was being processed then... Said it was waiting on the title pictures (which I've seen mentioned on here)... Got the name of my ISA/IDA and he messaged her, didn't get an answer and as I was about to hang up, she responded, gave me her email to send the title pictures.

No sooner had I hit send on the email, she called, gave me the $ amount of the trade in quote, discussed getting a quote from carmax to see if they'll match, went through some other items. Said the car was at the delivery center, really only needed to resolve the trade in and could get on the schedule. I asked her to double check it was in Minnesota and she said no, Fremont service center... so we're looking probably somewhere around 10/20ish.

I did not ask for the VIN yet, but supposedly would have one if there is a car (I know that doesn't mean it's the final vin...)

So anyhow, off to Carmax tomorrow to get a quote and hopefully movement from there!

This is interesting! Is this a discriminator for deliveries? In other words, does everyone get these or just real, legit, actual 'the car is in, been prepped, ready for deliver". When I got the call to set up a delivery in Dedham, I never got one of these. Have those expecting in eminent delivery gotten one of these versus 'happy ears'? Dan, that sounds / looks official.
Well, there goes that theory. Just got back from delivery center...no car yet. Hopefully come in tomorrow. Funny story...3 other couples doing exactly the same thing. Looking for their cars! Center usn't even open today.

Unfortunately I won't be able to do that as Mt Kisco is 2 1/2 hrs away. This is why I want to hear from them not some other part of the country that doesn't know their body guy has been out with the flu for a week.

So I'm returning to this thread to see how everyone else is. I ordered in May, blue 19", and I've been stuck on the "delivery specialist is reviewing your changes and will get back to you shortly." for THREE MONTHS.

After the crapshow that was the end of Q3 last week I checked on the site today to find that my order page has been reset! I still can't change my config, but I can again upload license, insurance information, etc. Only one thing. How the heck am I supposed to get insurance for a car without a VIN??? And if I hit "submit", do I go back in limbo for another three months?

I'll try to keep optimistic that this is progress, and not a step backward...but it's hard to when I see numerous people with the exact same config, who ordered in July get their cars first. Maybe I should just say screw it, and get myself a CPO BMW 3-Series for $30k.

I'm in the same boat as you - "reviewing your changes" message seemed to stay up there forever. But Monday morning after end of Q3 I noticed I was able to update my info. Things started moving after that. Fingers crossed. If you haven't yet, make some calls and inquire about your order status.

Oh and.. eww, bmw? :)

First obvious question first: Your insurance will cover the new car for some period of time. All Tesla needs to see is you actually have insurance on your existing car(s). After I uploaded trade-in information, insurance company information, drivers license information, financing information, all four group boxes took a green check mark indicating complete. Maybe it was post Tesla agreed all the requested info was supplied. I believe it's safe to say they won't progress you to the car assignment phase until all the group boxes are green. If that info wasn't supplied then, especially given the EOQ madness, you haven't been a focus. As for hitting submit. They will go by reservation date, somewhat...it's unclear to what degree, but mostly configuration date. It's not clear if you didn't fully supply all the requisite info (they set up back into input mode) whether you'd progress at all. Frankly, it's unclear what they are doing.
Right now they are in the midst of an extreme distribution issue with more cars produced than means to deliver them. The last several people heard is there are plenty of cars on the west coast unassigned, none on the east coast. Apparently there are sufficient car carriers on the west coast and Canada they are flooding those regions. It is further unclear when the east coast will be flooded with unassigned cars to be distributed. I believe there are several people ready or close to cancel. They clearly never envisioned the mechanics of actually delivering 420,000 cars. To add to that their parts supply chain has been notoriously bad for years.
Here is a catch 22. If you don't actually have car insurance you won't clear that gate. If you don't clear that gate you won't be assigned a car. I don't know if that applies. Some people don't carry car insurance because despite it being required, they don't "uninsured motorists". I don't know if that applies but if it does you might want to rethink that BMW. Although being in CT you need car insurance to register a car...I'm pretty sure. Tesla won't sell you one without it.

Did you call the Customer Service yet ? if not, give them a call and you may be surprised to hear that you have a DA, VIN and the car is already in transit. I know at least 3 Blue AWD heading to NY as we speak. If you see changes in your account page means something could be happening and unless we call they doesnt bother to contact us till we are a week away from delivery I guess. Don't give up and good luck.. you should be pretty close, just couple of weeks away.

When did you reserve/purchase? Maybe call the delivery line and ask where you stand and why it reset.

I would call again and speak with a different delivery specialist. That's how I got my VIN. The third one I talked to gave it to me.

Mine showed up last Wednesday I believe which was 6 days before delivery (I hope). I was actually surprised at how easy it was to finalize everything. Probably more due to my credit union than anything else. E-signed online for a couple of things and the check was ready the next day to take to pdelivery. I could have made it even easier and had the credit union do a funds transfer but i didn't want to give Tesla any more money until i saw the car.

Yeah, I was just joking. I was actually just looking at used Model S's online, there's a good number of them in New York and they all have VINs. Heh! I wouldn't get the federal tax credit or the CT rebate though.

You're correct, you need car insurance to register the car in CT. You're also correct about the catch-22, you can't get insurance on a car without a VIN...and it doesn't look like I can progress to the next step of getting a VIN without the car insurance done. (It expired after I ordered, as car insurance policies do every year, and the whole process of updating the expiration date is what sent me to "delivery specialist is reviewing" purgatory to begin with.) The Tesla call center people have been completely uninspiring so far, and I have less and less faith this car that I ordered almost five months ago will actually show up before the tax credits start to phase out.

Thanks! I called a bunch of times at the end of September after the infamous text message to the world, but I can try again tomorrow. Maybe there'll be some good news! It's not like I haven't been optimistic so far. I originally stood in line 3/31/16 ;)

Same configuration as yours for NY delivery ( 2017 reservation, 06/28 order), they canceled my appointment 3 times last month and gave away my assigned VIN to someone else, I have been calling delivery number daily and talking to different persons each time hoping someone can move things for me. Everyone has same message with different stories, you don’t have VIN, your delivery advisor would contact you in 30 min .... (but he vever bothered to do so in 15 days) , we have notified his supervisor, no cars in east... all BS....

QQ: When should the MVPA show up in my account? I have a VIN and a delivery date based on its expected arrival.

I’m “scheduled” for 10/19 and mine showed up this past Friday I think. That’s also the day I was offfically contacted from Vegas and got official emails. I’ll need to make changes if i can sell my car before then. The IDA email says 3 days before delivery.

Not sure what you meant by this. I did drive a 2012 Model S for a few days this summer out in Napa, CA. I'm pretty sure I'd really love it! And there are a bunch in New York for $46-49k. If Tesla will let me switch over my $3500 deposit, I'd really consider doing it.
Someone on her said awhile back until your assigned a Vin they won't hold you to the non refundable. You'll still get the $3000 from CT, to my recollection. Perhaps I misunderstood you being a tad, concerned abt credits. Earlier on here people were going for the PAWD ($10,000) just to go to front of line to get $7500 fed credit. Get the car you want!
